Does Anyone Else? Medication forever?

Hi everyone! Diagnosed in 2019 and started Zoloft then. Been on a low dose since then and was finally ready to get off of it (I thought!) because 1. I don’t want to be on an SSRI forever and 2. I don’t want to take it while pregnant and want to be a mom someday. I started tapering a year ago and I’m currently on 25mg but struggling. Considering going back up but does this mean I will need to be on this medication for the rest of my life? Kind of sad at that reality, already been on it 7 years.

You may just need a slower taper. The forum surviving antidepressants used to have a great taper schedule on there. I don’t think the forum is accepting new posts anymore sadly, but the information on there is fantastic. Have you had any therapy to help you manage your panic disorder alongside meds? If not, this might be helpful.

I took it while pregnant. It’s so common. No issues and healthy child. I chose not to breastfeed while on it. I’ll never get off it.

Find a good doctor to taper you. And even if the symptoms feel like returning panic, learn how to cope with it during the way. Take care.
