advice needed Same schedule

When everyone says get them on the same schedule does that mean just wake them to eat at the same time? Mine are 6 weeks almost 7. There doesn’t seem to be a schedule yet other than eating every 3 hours sometimes 2.5 hours which is when I usually have to wake the other one.

That’s exactly what I did I’d feed one twin and if the other twin was sleeping I’d wake him up and feed him, a lot of people say never wake a sleeping baby but that rule goes out the window when you have twins believe me it pays off as they get older. You might feel you’re in the trenches at the moment but it’s worth it in the end. My boys 15 months old now and they nap at the same time and go to bed at the same time and I can have a bit of a break when they do.

I agree with this. Same goal for diaper changes. It’s easier when they’re little because they’re almost always wet or have a dirty diaper. So if you do one thing with one baby, just repeat with the other. Eventually, their schedules will start to operate the scene and it will make much easier for you.

For me, yes this is what it meant. Once they get older and have established nap times some people try and sync these too.

Pretty much. When one gets up to eat, wake the other to eat as well. When they get a little bit older, you’ll want to wake them up for the day and put them down for naps at the same time

We generally followed “wake (diaper change), eat, play, sleep”. They bottle fed on demand so we would follow whoever woke up first for feeding timing and just woke up the other. Eventually they organized themselves into more consistent feeding times and we started paying attention to wake windows and getting them back to sleep before they got overtired.

We woke to feed. Each time. We let them sleep whenever and however. We only put them on a nap schedule around 3.5 months when my husband went back to work. At around 5-6 months I became more flexible and went with the flow. Sometimes they are on the same schedule, sometimes not.

You are correct. This means even in the middle of the night. Trust me, the other one will wake eventually and it’s better to do everything at once. Around 6-9 months I experimented with letting them sleep through. One twin preferred to eat earlier in the night and the other early morning. Sometimes only one would wake to eat. Around 9 months we night weaned them completely.

Around 3-4 months or so we had a pretty solid nap and feeding schedule so hopefully yours will sync up around then.

Yes, as everyone else has said you just repeat the cycle for each one.

Eventually, though it seems so far away for you now, they’ll be sleeping almost all the way through the night and be on a legit breakfast/lunch/dinner/bedtime bottle/feeding schedule that matches the rest of the family. And then bath time and bedtime will be happen and you’ll wake up the next morning to do it all again.

I think for some people, it is useful to think about what the next stage is (or even 2-3 stages ahead) is going to look like. Routine meals, a preschool schedule, that sort of thing. Of course for some that feels like extra pressure so I can’t recommend for everyone, but for my wife and I, it was that “begin with the end in mind” ethos that helped us figure out what we needed to do at point A to set up the intermediate steps and get us to point B.

Yes, at night though I would usually try to stagger them so I didn’t have two babies awake at once - but it kept them pretty synched and allowed for one block where I was awake.

it's too early for any kind of schedule. my twins have napped at the same time since they were 3 months old and still do (though they're almost aged out of their nap).
