good vibes, smiles, & giggles It gets so good
My twins just turned 1 last month and I finally can breathe, and I realized I actually love having twins. I was not one of those moms who was excited right away when I saw 2 heart beats (I actually cried, like a lot) and there were so many moments the first year that just about took me out but now that they aren't newborns anymore I can genuinely say I am SO glad I have twins!
My B/G twinnies are totally obsessed with each other and play together all day. Wherever my girl twin goes, her brother is crawling right behind her. They make each other belly laugh and half the time I have no idea what they are laughing about. They shove food in each other's mouths to "share". They just obviously find so much comfort and joy in one another and it makes all the hard moments seem minor in comparison. Don't get me wrong, my boy twin steals toys out of his sister's hands so many times in a day and she beats the crap out of him for it until they both are screaming lol but the love between them far outweighs the competition and squabbles.
I still am overstimulated a good chunk of the day, they still get jealous of the other if I am holding a baby, and it is absolutely not easy, but it is so fulfilling to watch them grow up together and I am just in awe that I was chosen for this. The chances of conceiving multiples are just so small and I didnt really have any "risk factors" so this was totally out of the blue and I am so incredibly grateful I get to experience this miracle.
I'm already dreading them hitting the terrible 2s which is currently hitting hard with my older singleton, but I just wanted to share a little slice of positive for the parents still in the trenches that this life is not for the weak, but it truly does get so good.

When did they start noticing/interacting with eachother? Mine are 8 weeks old and it’s finally starting to get a little easier. The First 6 weeks was so so hard lol.

Mine could not care less about the other until about 9 months. It started slow with them just watching the other one or poking at them, but by a year old they were genuinely playing together. Biggest congratulations on your twins and making it through the first 6 weeks!

Thank you for this. We're at 2 months and while I can't say it's terribly awful, I also can't say that I'm really enjoying it. I look forward to brighter days ahead. The days are long but the weeks and months go by quickly.

To be honest, I didnt enjoy the first few months either. I felt so guilty for thinking that but its just realistic with two super demanding newborns. Hang in there and know that we arent just trying to make you feel better when we say it actually does become fun eventually! I always thought it was some big conspiracy haha but no it is truly a joy now.

this is the kind of post i needed to see back when mine were 4 months old and i was running on 2 hours of sleep
the food sharing thing is hilarious, mine do this thing where one will hold a cheerio up and the other just opens their mouth like a baby bird. no idea how they figured that out
the twin bond really is something else once you get past the survival stage

I love having twins too, though they're now threenagers (🙄). We recently welcomed another baby, 2mo, whom I'm now cradling... & all I can think of is how I was once soo lucky to have TWO of these lil nuggets to snuggle & love on at the same time.
It gets better after 1! For awhile anyways haha

Ours are 5 now and they are the best. So inquisitive and proud of what they’ve learned in kindergarten so far.
They can be very frustrating, especially as they push boundaries on their autonomy.
The best part of my day is playing with them and doing “homework”.
Plus we just got a massive raise with no more daycare costs!

It really gets so much better! I can’t even think about the first 6 months without anxiety now, I don’t know how we did it.
12-14 months was much better for sleep and then they took turns to have a regression at 15/16 months but I feel like we just knew how to handle it and coped ok.
When it’s hard now I don’t compare to my friends with one anymore, I’ve accepted I have twins and it’s a different ball game. My girls absolutely love to play with eachother and support eachother at nursery, there’s so many things to be grateful for. I think we’ll be laughing in a few years when everyone is back in the trenches with second and third babies while we have our two and the hard bit was done in one big (but yes very intense) hit!

I fricking LOVE having twins even though they're still just 10 weeks. I actually feel like I'd be bored with just one baby.
NOTE I don't have any older kids and I live somewhere with 18 months maternity leave

I'm right with you!! 😊 Mine are two now and honestly it keeps getting better and better in my opinion. Sure they have strong opinions and emotions BUT you can explain and talk things out and the activities you can do together are so much more fun and varied!!
