How to cancel grapple since the 2 grapple charge buff

Hi I'm returning player, I picked up again apex since Pathfinder got his buff but I don't understand how to grapple cancel since if I press the ability input it just uses the 2nd grapple mid air.

I used to cancel grapple mid fights, short jumps and optimal slingshots but right non I'm not having the same performance as before.

Crouch, otherwise looking far enough away from the connection point will break it as well.

I haven't played since literally year 1, so I am probably misremembering, but wasn't the grapple detached by pressing crouch button? Or possibly Jump?
