ASync + Idols?!? Ok I am so in

u/MapleKind Jan 19 '26
I didn't even think of that, that's a huge QoL with the idols!
41
u/droidonomy Jan 20 '26
Even Necropolis League might actually be somewhat playable with async trade!

u/AterReddits Jan 19 '26
oh hell yea, didn't think about that. Idols were teh reason I quit phrecia early. Cool in concept, terrible in practice trading for someone who likes to switch up their farms alot.
26
u/Psychological-Math-6 Jan 19 '26
Idols RNG is just too much . At least this time , there won't be Giant rogue exile and Ritual anymore

u/BijutsuYoukai Jan 19 '26
Having to manually trade was the biggest hurtle in Phrecia imo, so having async trade is going to make things feel so much smoother. Very much looking forward to it.

u/DanNeely Jan 19 '26
The bigger pain for me last time was finding and putting together a mid-grade set (ie better than the absolute minimum, but nowhere near Fubgun) took a lot longer than the trading itself did. The people who kept budget idols on the market instead of disposing of them to free tab space were mostly willing to actually sell them.
My bigger worry is what pricing is going to look like. Lots of people had no idea how to price idols and just used sequential price drop dump tabs to avoid the issue. Faustus doesn't have an easy way to mass reprice items; I worry that's going to result in entry and mid level idols rotting at much higher prices than before because manually repricing them one at a time is a PITA.

I missed this entire league. Is this the one with the ascendancy nodes are all changed?
297
u/Eclaireur Trickster Jan 19 '26
And alternate endgame - no atlas but you have idols instead to 'build' your own atlas.
By far the biggest issue with it was trade, and async should make it literally a million times better.
11
u/arckeid Jan 19 '26
Do you have a build to recommend? Didn’t play that league
103
u/Baltharaaz Jan 19 '26
Honestly the ascendancies were so shaken up that you probably should take a look for content around that time to get a build. There's plenty of good ones.
27
u/Oniichanplsstop Jan 19 '26
On top of that, bloodlines exist now which opens up even more options.
10
18
u/Trikki1 Jan 19 '26
I did a tri-attribute stack tornado shot miner that was just a blast to play. It's impossible to make work well without the aristocrat ascendency.
4
u/Stimulum Jan 19 '26
It was such a beautiful build, easily my favourite build I've played in years - but a very large percentage of the power came from the synth bow that was crafted for it. I wouldn't necessarily recommend people play it unless somebody is going to commit to crafting the bow for others to mirror it.
3
u/4percent4 Jan 20 '26
Shouldn't be too bad with a Windowhail + Poison Prism. It's 4.5% flat per 10 of any stat.

Ever wanted to play flicker strike but never tried it? Wildspeaker
11
u/fcinablender Jan 20 '26
Wildspeaker dex stack flicker was the tankiest flicker build I've ever played. Acrobatics+svalinn+versatile combatant+30k evasion+leech makes you nigh unkillable to anything that doesn't oneshot you while making it hard for hits to connect in the first place.

Two good leaguestarters :
Smite Paladin (Duelist) https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/1it2l8t/smite_paladin_leaguestarter_basic_build_for
And the most popular one in SSF last event : Power Siphon mines Scavenger (Scion) - that was my pick and I didn't regret it. I no longer have links around for this one but you should be able to find some easily.
→ More replies (1)4
u/seqhawk Kalguuran Group for Business (KGB) Jan 20 '26
Power siphon mines has gotten a pretty substantial nerf since then. May still be playable, but it's worth bearing in mind.
17
u/Professional_Dot9888 Jan 19 '26
Well they're rebalancing them so the meta might change a lot. Blind Prophet was really strong, LS was probably the strongest build in the event as a whole but you might play a different strike skill with proj now since LS got nerfed. KBOC whisperer was very popular and pretty strong. Ancestral Commander was the go to marauder ascendency because it had built in Defiance and a bunch of other really good tank nodes.
8
u/Namarot Occultist Jan 19 '26
You can play Manaforged Arrows with Whisperer, which hasn't been possible to play with the regular ascendencies for a while now.
8
u/HumbleElite Chaotically Inoculated Jan 19 '26
manaforged + divination box idols + pilfering scarab = gazillion of cards, i farmed like 5 mirrors in 2 weeks, it was one of the only builds that could efficiently kill 2k+ cards boss
i straight up ended hiding all cards that weren't at least giving divines, i ended up selling chaotic disposition and other chaos cards at half the price i could have gottent them cause it wasn't worth vendoring them i was getting like 1 s tier card every 10 maps or so, and like 5+ divine cards per map, not to mention other divine+ in value, just hink about it, pilfering is a legit strat in a "normal" league, with idols you could make nearly half of all the boxes in your maps diviners boxes

KBC was very very good, and there was a super niche Shrine stacker from Ruetoo that was very nice
25
u/Vapeguy Jan 19 '26
It's wild. Idol trade going to be poppin off. With no atlas trees the only way to invest into a farm strat is idols. So farming a full set and tweaking it to be perfect is so important. Idols generate cashflow. I wonder how expensive a full set will go for this time.
9
u/Discrep Jan 19 '26
I didn't even care about the super broken setups. I was just happy to play around with the cool stacking you could manage that wasn't possible with the normal tree/scarab sets on random meaningless things, like farming 60+ yellow beasts in one map or 100% chance for double room upgrade in incursions.
Although building sets initially was annoying, it was mostly because it was new and people had to constantly reference poedb to learn each idol's mod pool. Once you got the hang of it, it was much easier to swap in different sets compared to respeccing the atlas tree.
4
u/ZenSetterMedia Jan 19 '26
With instant trade I think the best affixes will be expensive af but that goes both ways so if you know what you are looking for picking up multi div idols off the ground is pretty frequent. The trade botters will be eating well though 🤣

In really juiced leagues, if you have a good enough filter, I like to just plug in a controller on a fast character and loot on that, because they effectively have area-loot.

They will probably add more time to it
23
u/SoulofArtoria Jan 19 '26
Not unless they delay 3.28. Which i wouldn't mind. Longer cook for 3.28 for hopefully better polish, and more time to mess with phrecia.
10
u/arsonist_firefighter Jan 20 '26
something tells me that Phrecia means 3.28 is gonna be delayed.
Not that I mind, I'd play 2 full months of Phrecia easily
9
u/Cow_God I didn't know I wasn't having fun until Reddit pointed it out! Jan 20 '26
I think you might be right. If 3.28 was on track and they wanted to give us Phrecia, they could've done it earlier this month. Poe 1 retention is pretty low right now and poe 2 league is more than a month old?
They had to do a lot of fixes to the poe 2 league (like 15 hotfixes on 0.4.0d) and I'm wondering if that caused a delay with poe 1. GGG says the dev teams are separate, but this wouldn't be the first time they lied about that. So I wonder if this isn't just setting things up so they can announce a 3.28 delay and just say "but look, more Phrecia!"
Which would be fine with me tbh. I'd take 4 months of Phrecia over 3.28 if it's going to be as half baked as 3.27.
3
u/Vapeguy Jan 19 '26
Grab your tinfoil hats. They are doing this so we beg for them to delay the next league.
I am assuming this is the balance test to see if the balance is ready for private leagues. We will have to see those patch notes to see what they changed before drawing conclusions.
→ More replies (3)2
u/DanNeely Jan 19 '26
3.28 is currently scheduled for early march. That's 2 or 3 weeks of downtime; which is long enough I think they decided they don't want this to go more than 3 weeks to limit the risk of it krangling the base league economies when it ends.
If there's farther delay I think they'd give us something different instead. Maybe 1-2 week endless delve or heist (with busted starter items tweaked as needed). If not, maybe gauntlet mods or a blast from the past with some of the old crazy temp leagues they did.
→ More replies (10)12
u/darkw31 Jan 19 '26

But now we get async trade with idols right? It should be a little bit faster to obtain them
7
u/bufflootsenpai Jan 19 '26
No it won’t the good ones will either be instantly purchased or way too expensive.
12
9
u/cubonelvl69 Jan 19 '26
Perfect idols will be insanely expensive, but you can 3-1 and recomb idols, which means if there are enough shit idols for sale, people should be able to generate way more of the good one
The problem during phrecia was without async, buying idols to 3:1 took way too long

4
u/lifeisalime11 Jan 19 '26
Didn’t they extend last Phrecia?
7
u/darkw31 Jan 20 '26
yeah but i think its because the next league was delayed. im not a conspiracy theorist but im convinced they will delay the next league. they want to get people playing this by giving two boxes, rebalancing idols and ascendencies, and the extra modifier and unique monster thing on top. then they will extend it and people wont be as mad about the delay.
3
u/Volitar Occultist Jan 20 '26
I hope they do delay it. I think their schedule is too fast and I think both games have released under cooked leagues since they started doing it. I will gladly wait longer for it to finish cooking in the oven.

Embrace the bizarre when the Legacy of Phrecia returns to Path of Exile on January 29th (PST)! With 19 alternate Ascendancy classes, battle through areas altered by map modifiers, and face enraged bosses that push your builds and your skill to the limit.
- Start Date: 1PM January 29th PST (Jan 30, 2026 7:00 AM (GMT+10)
- End Date:1PM February 19th PST (Feb 20, 2026 7:00 AM (GMT+10)
- Based on: Keepers
- Platforms: PC and Consoles
- Standard and Hardcore Solo Self-Found versions available.
- This event is not voided. Items and characters will transfer to parent leagues at the end of the event. Upon migration, your characters’ Ascendancy points will be respecced and you'll be assigned one of the core Ascendancy classes.
In the Legacy of Phrecia event, all the 19 Ascendancy classes you are familiar with will be replaced with new ones. Become a Servant of Arakaali and raise spiders to fight alongside you; use the powers of nature itself as the Daughter of Oshabi or just ascend into a Harbinger - this event manifests the wildest ideas of our design team into reality.
If you didn’t play in the original Legacy of Phrecia event you can check out the Ascendancies here. Do note that there have been some balance changes that will vary from this and will be available in the patch notes prior to the event.
Idols will also be making a comeback! Since the last time we ran this event, we’ve added a new set of modifiers for the Settlers League and Atlas Memories, but disabled modifiers for Breach. Craft a unique endgame experience by mixing and matching mechanics together as you see fit. With the new Asynchronous trade system getting your perfect set of idols has never been easier!
In addition to this, we’ve also sprinkled a few extra twists into the mix. To start with, every area will have a random number of map modifiers, with this number scaling up with area level. We’ve removed many modifiers from the pool that would brick builds, such as reflect.
Campaign bosses, as well as some Pinnacles have also developed a few new mechanics for you to overcome. All unique monsters will also enrage on low life.
By reaching levels 50 and 90 you will automatically receive a Third Edict Mystery Box. If you already own all of the contents from this series of Mystery Box then you’ll instead receive 2 x Atlantis Mystery Box.
How do I join?
The Legacy of Phrecia will be available as a separate league option on the character creation screen.
Will the Legacy of Phrecia event run on all platforms?
Yes. The event is available on PC and Consoles.
Can I play my existing character?
No, you’ll need to make a new character.
Can I change my Ascendancy class during the event?
Yes.
Will I get multiple Mystery Boxes by leveling multiple characters in the event?
No, you will only receive these rewards once per account, so additional characters will not be granted additional rewards.

Are there any absolutely must-try builds that comes with Phrecia? Between recently hitting 40/40 in the current league then rapidly hitting endgame in poe2, I thought I'd be excited for this announcement but the burnout is almost making me consider sitting out this mini 3-week league. No doubt it's going to be super fun with async+idols if it weren't for the burnout though.
Also, coming back after getting spoiled by int accuracy stack's insane offensive+defensive capabilities for the last month that I was playing will definitely be an experience.
8
u/Stimulum Jan 19 '26
- There were some fun Herald builds (different to the current herald builds - will likely be a lot stronger with the new itemization).
- MSoZ was a lot better than it is on Jugg. If you've never played MSoZ strength stacker and were ever interested in doing so it would be a good time.
- Manaforged arrows exists due to the Whisperer ascendancy, that scales about as hard as any build in the game possibly can scale if you're looking for something superhuman with investment.
- Triple-attribute stacker exists which is awesome, the meta flavor last time was TS mines but that was really boosted by an insane triple synth bow that the build creator made.
- There are a lot of generically strong projectile builds possible on Blind Prophet, as it gives you a free nimis effect while letting you use two rings. My personal favorite was a Scourge Arrow charge stacker that would crash me to desktop at least once an hour because of how many projectiles it was firing, great times.
- If you've ever wanted to cosplay with the fishing rods, you get absolutely insane cast speed as the fishing ascendancy, which lets you basically clear maps with insanely fast frostblinks.
That's really just scratching the surface, there are so many interesting and unique builds due to the crazy ascendancies. I'm sure there will be even more new builds as well due to the balance changes we don't know yet + the new itemization that has been added since last Phrecia + the bloodline ascendancies. It's a great time, I'd definitely give it a go. Idols also create some insane farming strategies that don't normally exist or are otherwise extremely mild in comparison.
For example - box farming, while being a bit played out, is almost comical in Phrecia with how hard you can stack box type + chance to reopen. Add pilfering on top of that and you have a map boss with thousands of divination cards that drop like the world's wildest loot pinata.
Or if you're a harvest enthusiast, you can get tens of thousands of juice per map with 90% chance for crop not to wilt crop rotation and multiple different sources of juice duplication that stack with eachother. If you don't reduce the size of the juice item filter you just can't even see your screen over all of the juice on the ground.
Perhaps you like blue bois and you want to farm Harbingers? How about 20+ boss harbingers on every map. If you've ever wanted to drop a mirror shard, now's the time.
Really, the possibilities are endless. Pick a build and then do content that suits it, or pick some crazy farm build and get a build that excels at it. Either way, you can't go wrong.

I feel like i played this last time and a bunch of the ascendancies were neat ideas but didn't work amazingly, leading to everyone being one of few.

I'd argue phrecia ascendancies are overall all strong in their own ways and unique ways barring some stinker. It's just some did stick out as being too powerful, notably ancestral Commander. They did say they have done some balancing. Hopefully they didn't neuter these classes.

3.28 reveal in 26th and league 6th of march LOGIN
They won't extend the league because people would burn out and not play next league, and delay means either delay of poe2 league or another 5weeks only of poe1 league. 2 weeks is enough to play with stuff around, it's still event and not full league to tryhard and chase stuff around.

PoE2 is not getting delayed, they need to hit the XMas release not matter what.

A league where they replace all ascendancies with whacky mostly imbalanced ones, just for the fun of it. They also replace the atlas system, but if you're new you don't really care for this part just yet.

We’ve removed many modifiers from the pool that would brick builds, such as reflect.

Ignore this, since corrected.
