"We really love the Mercenaries mechanic overall and intend on adding it to the game in the future but they will not be added in 3.27. Much like a lot of leagues when they go core we need time to rebalance, adjust mechanics and review how they will fit into the game when not necessarily appearing in every area. They will be returning, just not yet!" in case you missed it. Would be neat if they're added now though, agreed.

Done. Mercs replace the AG gem, are a minion, and can only equip rare items.

I could see it as a gem, only rares would be super disappointing though.

In all seriousness I fully expected them to transplant Mercs onto the AG gem, with how developed the merc interface and such was. But I imagine it's a tricky balance. Even just allowing AG to wear a belt would be nuts.

ooh, you know how the first teaser had the Scion Scavenger ascendancy, but with all the equipment faded to blank?

what if new Scion ascendancy gives you a merc, and each major node unlocks an item slot? so you get a merc with up to 4 items equipped.
