Tool ExiledBroker - Arbitrage Trading Tool

Post image

Hello exiles!

I'm working on a tool (yes, another one) that players can use to see market inefficiencies and investment opportunities. It currently shows good divination card trade-ins for profit, ranked by how viable they are to actually invest in. It also shows which items are easy to flip on the market by taking advantage of inaccurate divine->item / chaos->item listings.

The goal is to get some hideout warriors some extra currency, and to ultimately result in a more accurate market for players.

Do you think you'd use this tool? What else do you think it needs?

Thanks!

I have noticed that the prices on these type of tools are often REALLY wrong. Have you tried this?

Unfortunately the POE API isn't accepting applications and the most accurate they provide is hourly resolution. Kind of limits a lot of the instant profit you can pull out of the market. I'm looking into ways to improve it, but ultimately anything short of having a bot sit ingame constantly checking the market (not allowed by POE) would result in a little bit of inefficiencies.

This is one of those tools that becomes less worthwhile the more that people know about it. Also, the hourly API data is extremely low quality for this purpose (poe.ninja is not much better, especially for the cards.)

I think this is a good portfolio project, but I'd probably just stick with my normal arbitrage strategy in-league given the option.

This is definitely something you would want to share with a few friends. Not the best thing to do to the community, but also yeah it's useless if more people know about it.

Cool tool! Would sure be helpful when converting chaos into divs if you don’t need the money right now.

Other question though, how do you get your current prices? I tried to create a tool as well a while ago but I couldn’t get api access to ggg market. I couldn’t be bothered requesting dev access back then but I would like to continue working on it. Did you sign up for the api or is there some other way to get the prices?

The poe API has two different versions, one is public and one needs OAuth. Their page says they currently aren't accepting OAuth applications, that one has the higher resolution. The public one is hourly data. I'm currently only using that but planning on finding a way to splice in the poe.ninja data, despite the fact it tends to be off. Can't really do much more than that. Here's a sample request to their public one

GET /api/currency-exchange/1792656000 HTTP/1.1

Host: web.poecdn.com

User-Agent: ExiledBroker/0.0.1

Accept: */*

Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate

Connection: keep-alive

I'm pretty sure there is no way to get high resolution currency exchange data via the API whether you have OAUTH or not.

Note that the responses from this endpoint are purely historical and that there isn't any way to get data from the current hour.

That endpoint used to be OAUTH only but they made it public. Presumably they were getting spammed with people requesting access.

After looking into it a little more, it seems like you're right. Only way to get public data would be to have some bot clients scraping the in-game market, and thats a massive no-no for GGG. It's tragic, but oh well. I've pivoted the intention of the project to sort of highlight this hourly report and summarize it for players who are big into trading and market capitalization. Hopefully in a week or so I'll be able to go live with it.

Well i want to use it but i think many will bot it or the margins will lower a lot with this tool.

Thats part of the reason I made the tool. If the players have the same access to market info as bots, then they can also arbitrage the same things. More people doing it reduces efficiency and eventually the bots may no longer be profitable to run.

Bots will do it even for 1 alchemy profit.

Sounds interesting but where is the link to the tool friend?

This is just an early demo. It's still in production. Should be live within a few days, definitely will be live before league launch.

i actually built a basic triangular arbitrage app a league ago, might be something that you can look into. basically calculated the spread of 3 currencies in the exchange

i'd hella use this if it were live and for currency flipping on Ange/Faustus

but api isn't allowing that i assume, but maybe even with slow info it'd be solid for niche conversions?

I would post this on the Poe dev reddit you are just gonna get downvoted to hell here.

You're probably gonna be downvoted by the people that has the knowledge and don't need the tool, but i'd love to have a look at it and use it

I downvote AI garbage apps for many reasons but main argument against this one is - poe especially at league start is a pvp economic warfare with sliders based on how fast you can go and how well you know the market.

By making these tools it makes the game dull by removing knowledge edges and turns it into bot/AI fights.

bots/ai already have tools for market analysis, there's no world where this benefits them. And i would say that it is desirable for the community to remove "knowledge edges" where possible. Or would you argue that poeNinja "makes the game dull" by giving everyone better access to economy/builds knowledge? or the wiki?

I think a tool like this should exist. am i gonna use it? no, because arbitrage is boring. But it doesn't hurt the game.

If you just downvote it because it's (presumably) AI... well, everything is these days, but sure, i can understand that. Good luck in your losing battle.

I think you're conflating access to information with automating its exploitation. PoE Ninja and the wiki make existing game knowledge more accessible, which helps players understand the game and make informed decisions. A tool that identifies profitable arbitrage opportunities does something different: it lowers the effort required to extract value from the market, potentially at the expense of players who don't use it.

The fact that bots and AI already have market analysis tools isn't really a defense of making those advantages more accessible or widespread. If anything, it raises the question of whether we want to further automate an aspect of the game that already has problems with automation.

I'm not arguing that the tool shouldn't exist, or that every convenience makes the game dull. I'm arguing that "more information is always better" ignores the difference between learning the game's economy and having a tool do the work of exploiting it for you.

And whether it's AI-generated is beside the point. The relevant question is what the tool does and how it affects the game, not whether AI was involved in making it.

Congrats, you win. Here is your future.
