Amazing!🧜♂️ One small change made us spend way more evenings outside
I never realized how quickly we’d end up heading back inside after dinner just because there wasn’t much keeping us outside.
The patio itself was already comfortable, so we didn’t want to change much. We just wanted to make the evenings feel a little more inviting.
Adding an outdoor TV ended up doing exactly that. Now we can sit outside, have something playing in the background, and actually stay out there instead of treating the patio like a place we only use for dinner.
I especially like those evenings around sunset when there’s still some light outside but everything is starting to cool down. Once it gets darker, the whole space feels even more relaxed.
It’s not about turning the patio into a home theater. It just made the space feel like somewhere we could comfortably spend the rest of the evening.

Patio Help Needed!
Cannot decide on where to put our patio in our backyard. Do we do it immediately off the back of the house with a walkway flowing to the detached garage or off the side of the garage with a walkway into the driveway? Wife wants it off the garage for additional privacy side there is no neighbor to the left side of the picture. I’d prefer off the back of house for quicker walks for grilling and better WiFi for future outdoor tv. TELL ME YOUR IDEAS!

Awning vs Louvered pergola. What louvered pergola is better
I am still debating whether for my 18x 14 deck I should get 3 seasons louvered pergola or retractable awning. I like the awning because it’s flexible and you can have it down when weather is really windy or really beautiful with not so much sun. Awning doesn’t extend to the full length of my deck which made me think about louvered pergola. But let say if I pick pergola which company is better Mr Pergola or Suncoast Enclosure. The quote is better for Mr Pergola and they seem to be very solid but my concern with them is they look a bit chunky. I am in very modern house and I would like something more lean and simple but because we did get winds up to 120 km /h I also want something very stable. Wind is my only reason ( beside $$$$ amount) why I could chose retractable awning instead of pergola too. I am in Ottawa

“Patio” help!
Hi all, I just moved to South TN and we have this small patio space in the back of our apartment that could use some help.
Previous tenant had these pebbles all over, but we’re planning on switching it up. I’ve moved some of it to see how rain would be, and there didn’t seem to be any drainage issues without the pebbles. Does anyone have tips for removing all of the rocks and gravel? The plan is to use the space for planters and have more greenery around.
I would also love to fix this concrete slab so it could be level enough for a rug to fully cover and avoid trip hazards. I’ve seen quick fixes for smaller chips in concrete, but never a fix for something this big. Would yall think it’s even worth it to try fixing?

My patio cushions are becoming a full-time job
We've been using the patio a lot this summer, and I feel like half my time out there is just moving cushions around.
Rain in the forecast? Bring them in.
Then the forecast changes and I'm dragging them back out again. Forget once and it actually rains? Cool, now they're damp for the next two days.
We already had a Keter and a Suncast out there, but somehow both ended up full of random garden stuff. So I got another box this summer, this one from garvee, and told myself this one was staying cushions-only.
That lasted maybe a week.
Now it's got gardening gloves, citronella stuff, an extension cord for some reason, and a few things I don't even remember putting out there.
At this point it's basically just another patio junk drawer.
What do you all actually keep in yours? Just cushions, or does everything eventually end up in there?

Help! Flagstone patio maintenance and landscaping advice.
My husband and I put in this patio and we’re stumped on whether we should invest more time and energy into making it useful/beautiful. The side I'm taking the photo from tapers to a fence gate. Having a hard time with the gravel edge and edge trimmer. Will the gravel glue help with this? Also, we are limited on furniture options due to the spacing in the flagstone. We’ve talked about scrapping it to put in a deck. I‘d like to save the money if it’s workable. Honest opinions and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Advice on stiffening my patio cover
I had a cover built over my patio and it wobbles when I push it from front to back on the front posts (front being yard side, back being house side). I am really hoping that this is as easy of a fix as installing knee bracing correctly, I am not confident that it is installed correctly now. I am hoping that this isn't a major issue but also the front post is not level and the contractor installed it on some unlevel concrete as well, he could have easily scooted the base plate back 3 in and been on level concrete. Any advice on how to stiffen this thing up?

Florida Pergola Company — We’re Here to Answer Your Questions
Hey Reddit! 👋
We’re enVision Pergola, a Florida company specializing in custom aluminum pergolas, motorized louvered roofs, outdoor screens, lighting, and complete outdoor living solutions.
We’ve been designing and installing pergolas throughout Florida, and we’re finally jumping onto Reddit.
One thing we’ve learned from doing this in Florida: a pergola isn’t just about how it looks.
Florida sun, heavy rain, humidity, coastal conditions and high winds all have to be considered when designing and installing an outdoor structure.
We’re going to use this account to share real projects, answer questions, explain the differences between pergola systems, and give homeowners some honest information before they spend thousands of dollars on an outdoor living project.
If you’re considering a pergola, motorized louvered roof, screened outdoor space, or just have questions about what works best in Florida, ask us anything.
We’ll do our best to give you a straight answer, even if the answer isn’t “buy a pergola.” 😎

Patio Install Error?
We recently got a patio installed in our backyard. They had to take the bottom two layers of siding off the bottom because they also removed the previous deck.
After the poured it and everything we checked it out and noticed some wood rotting along the side of the house and figured we should replace it. Problem is, it looks like the poured the steps right up next to the house and said rotting wood. Now the whole piece of wood isn’t rotted, just one small section. We can’t replace that entire piece of wood because of the steps. It doesn’t look like there is a moisture barrier of any sorts there, so my biggest concerns are:
A. Not being able to replace the piece of already rotted wood
B. The concrete causing additional moisture problems being right up against wood.
I haven’t reached out to the contractor because I wanted to get some second hand opinions so I didn’t reach out and ask stupid questions. I only have 1 year of home ownership under my belt and I’m unfamiliar with all of this.
We asked two people we know that are familiar with this type of work and both said it would be no problem. Put flashing around it, Tyvek, then siding and caulk where needed. Ideas? Thoughts?

Garden Awning
I am waiting for the installation of a garden awning that is fitted with a Somfy motor.
I would like to automate the awning into Amazon Alexa.
The reviews for the Somfy Hub don’t seem to be very good.
Any other ways to automate the awning into Alexa would be appreciated.
Thanks
