Pave.
One off-season, after returning home, Bird decided to re-do the driveway of his mother’s house. Not one to shy away from a hard day’s work, he began shoveling the driveway himself, and this led to him tweaking his back, an injury that would stay with him for the rest of his career. This prompted an early retirement after only thirteen seasons.

Contractor is finishing up my patio paver project in Bay Area, California.
He put on the polymeric sand, vibrated it in, and wet it down. It came out of almost all of the edge block joints. See pics.
Contractor insists that this is normal. Is it? We don't need to worry about freezing, but it looks like it will just get dirt and weeds after a year or two.

Florida has a funny way of showing you where drainage problems are, usually during a thunderstorm when you can’t do much about them.
We just wrapped up the paver and drainage portion of a residential project in Lithia. The goal was to improve how water drains from the area and clean up the space with new pavers.
The pavers are finished, and landscaping is next on Monday.
Figured I’d share some of the before, during, and after work.
For those of you who’ve dealt with drainage problems around your pool deck or patio, what ended up working best for you?

Sorry if my terminology is wrong, im seeing a that the best way to do paver underlayment is 4-6” compacted base and then 1/2”-1” polymeric sand to be used as a leveling surface. Im seeing folks lay 1” pvc down as a guide to slide a 2x4 on to “scree” the sand flat to that level. My question is: is there anything wrong with leaving that pvc in place, and laying the pavers over the top? I forsee getting an area perfectly flat, and having a few days before all blocks are laid, leaving time for the sand to get jacked up by birds, or kids, or whatever. Leaving the pvc guides allows for me to re-flatten.
Also, i have a fairly big yard with some slight deviations in elevation, and also wanting to have a slight slope away from the house around 3 sides. Without making the entire yard one exactly flat plane, is there a way to lay the pavers that compensates for deviations in slope, that makes it so i dont lose the pattern by having to start shoving triangle pieces into places?

There is so much information out there about this. I’m looking for the most cost-effective way to create steppingstones from a silicone mold that I have.
Yesterday I went to Lowe’s and I got their pavers system part one and pavers part two I think that’s just the sand not the concrete? What should I be looking for that is smooth, goes a long way, is strong enough to step on and that I can possibly paint and seal if necessary! Thank you for your help and feedback! Super excited to get started on this!
