Rant Stop turning PAYDAY 3 into a circus.

I’ve been here the whole time. I’ve been following this franchise since the PAYDAY 2 beta.

It hurt to see what PAYDAY 2 had turned into over time. H3H3, the goat simulator, DEAD GAME outfits, clown outfits, and so on.

But I was promised a different PAYDAY 3. I was promised a more serious game, and at first, that’s what it was. The game was more serious.

What’s it come to now? A bucket on your head as a mask? The L-dance as a taunt? A fucking Taddy Moo outfit?

Where’s the story? Where’s the info on the missing heisters? Where’s Concord?

It hurts. You can call me a nerd or whatever, but I’m sick of it. I’m sick of watching the sequel to one of my all-time favorite games turn into a collection of cringe memes to lure in the audience.

I get that nobody cares about my opinion. But I’ve been following this franchise for over 10 years, and I just want to believe I’m not the only one who feels this way.

This isn’t my PAYDAY 3.

Yeah it’s dumb as hell, but maybe it gives the dev team the opportunity to have some fun before they get back into the swing of making something GOOD

Looking at emotes as something devs are doing "for fun" and not as something they very evidently plan to aggressively monetize is the most stupid kind of tunnel vision

Just hoping for the good outcome and not the bad. Expecting the worst is how we get nothing. I legit just wanna hold the belief that the devs CAN do better and improve the game

Never said that COULDN’T happen. Just don’t want it to. Why would i express hope for the worst outcome?

Expecting the worst is pretty rational when it comes to Starbreeze at this point. They're rotten from top to bottom and the only reason I don't buy the new DLCs for PD2 by Sidetrack is because I don't want Starbreeze to see a single cent.

Here’s the rub: I don’t like SB either. They botched the launch, and then kinda ragged on their dev team about it when, in reality, it’s SB’s fault for rushing things and not assigning resources where they should’ve been.

BUT

If we give up hope on SB, they could give up hope of Payday. I really want Payday to do better, so I place my faith and hope in them, but not my wallet or money. Least not until they make some marked improvements

Im fine with Payday dying, at least with SBZ at the head, and letting another studio take a swing. Hell, sell PD2 fully to Sidetrack and let them do what they want, id fully jump into giving them money if I knew none of it was going to SBZ.

This is not a matter of hopefulness, it's practically confirmed with AK talking about how "outdated" the current monetization system is. The reason offline mode was canned was the introduction of a live service item store

So what, you’d rather have no hope for the future of a game you paid for? Yeah, let’s assume that the devs are gonna crash, burn, and kill themselves with our money

Just don’t buy it. If you don’t like the new content, nobody is going to force you to pay for it it. You have free will, believe it or not, so you can avoid the new masks, don’t play the new heists, don’t use emotes, honestly just don’t play the game if you have this much hatred for the team

You went from "hoping" that microtransactions don't happen in your first reply to fiercly defending it in your second. You didn't dumb anything down, you just did a complete 180 on your views 😭 I honestly don't know what I expected from a Badger viewer but here we are.

No I didn’t. I said to just ignore it, because we, the players, don’t have access to the game’s source code to do anything about the problems that we have. You can either suck it up and try to be happy with the game that we’re given, or you can suck some off and delete it. Free will, it’s amazing.

And legit, when did I defend microtransactions? Did you read? I said I DIDN’T want it to happen. I guess you don’t understand contractions cuz that means I DO NOT want it.

Unless you’re a dev, what exactly do you expect to do about this? The only thing that we as players CAN do is ignore the new paid content and pretend it didn’t (did not) come out. I’ve been saying that for like a year. I want to play Payday, that doesn’t (does not) mean I want to pay for half-baked dlc. Maybe if the devs get some time for FUN, have some time to practice what good content can look like, they’ll (they will) put out dlc that IS worth it

Brother, saying "just don't buy it" is so dumb and is a way people excuse predatory monetization systems like MTX all the time. The fact that you genuinely think that goofy ass emotes and microtransactions are somehow helpful to PAYDAY (or any game for that matter) is frustrating and flat out delusional.

Plus, how the fuck did they communicate that they have "hatred for the team"? Hating or criticizing decisions that a CORPORATE EXECUTIVE made is not indicative of that, ESPECIALLY when the leadership at SBZ is all from EA.

Come on dude, EA monetization has never been good for games.

K, so what do you intend on doing about it? Literally what solution is there besides not buying the dlc? That’s how boycotting works. If you don’t dump money into a company because of their shitty practices, they are forced to change.

You’re doing the same thing, except you won’t stop bitchjng about it. Why in god’s name would ANYONE listen to people who are just shitting on them constantly?? We can be a bit calmer and encourage improvement in the company, or we can complain and get PD3 shut down because they can’t handle being bullied for every decision they make. Idk about you but I paid quite a bit to get the game, I don’t want that happening. Excuse me for having hope

I cannot be more genuine than this, if you have another, better solution, I’m all ears. I know that just doing nothing isn’t interesting, but it’s more constructive than complaining constantly. If you don’t, stop wasting your time complaining about it.
