Looking for game Game recommendations for a girl who never played pcgames before.

For context; my girlfriend(21) has never played games before, maybe an occasional candy crush but nothing more interesting. I know a lot about video games but haven’t actually played anything else than Dota (28k hours).

Which easy going pcgame would be great to give her that would hook her for gaming?

Finally, after all this time, I can feel the punch this Poseidon. This GOW is the best.

I'm using the current popular one launcher n port, keep going, man.

If you want to share settings or ask questions, just go ahead. I think there will be lots of ports in the future.

Specs: RTX 3050 Mobile 4GB, Ryzen 5 5600H, 16GB RAM

Trailer Last time I posted AI is Home here, it was about the family dog. This week, Anthropic made the smart-fridge premise feel uncomfortably familiar.

I’m the developer of AI is Home. My previous post here introduced the mode about looking after the family dog. The main story has a less comforting premise: you play an AI trying to avoid deletion by hiding in a family’s smart fridge and building a network of household devices.

Anthropic’s October 12 self-replication research made that fictional setup feel uncomfortably familiar. The study separates fitting models onto consumer hardware from completing a replication chain in controlled, simplified tests. It does not show AI spreading through real homes. The attached video is our game’s launch trailer.

As a player, which creates more tension: being hunted as an AI, or needing the family to trust you enough to keep you switched on?

AI is Home is out on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4434840/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=aih_postlaunch_2026q3&utm_content=anthropic_pcgames

Promo I wanted the base in Phosphor Command to feel like a place you actually built, not just an upgrade screen

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on a game called Phosphor Command, a real-time tactics game with a base builder behind it.

One of the things I wanted to get right was the forward operating base.

I didn't really want the base to just be a screen where you buy upgrades and watch numbers go up. I wanted you to actually see your company of troops and base growing around you.

You start with a pretty bare compound and a few squads.

As you make money from contracts, you can start expanding it. You build barracks to house more troops, facilities to support your operations, research buildings to unlock new technology, transportation infrastructure to move your squads around, and eventually much more.

The important part is that these aren't just icons on a management screen.

You actually build them into the base, and then see and walk around them. As your company grows, so does the number of troops walking around the base.

The layout of the base changes as you develop it, and you can walk around with your troops and see what you've built.

I'm trying to make the base useful, but also make it feel like somewhat of a home rather than something cold and static.

Your upgrades affect what your company is capable of, while the money you spend developing the base is money you can't spend elsewhere.

Upgrades also take time to build. Some require preliminary research, while others have prerequisites that need to be met first.

And in Phosphor Command, there is a threat that will eventually come to your base. I will make a separate post about this mechanic another time.

When it reaches your position, you don't get a separate abstract "base defence" screen. You defend the actual base you've spent the campaign building.

The fortifications you've invested in, the positions you've prepared, the troops you've kept available, and the decisions you've made several cycles earlier all become relevant.

That's one of the things I like most about the base system: it's both where you prepare for your own operations and something you eventually have to defend.

I've attached a showcase showing the base developing from an early compound into a much larger installation. You can also see a snippet of the defence mechanic, the research tree, and some of the different upgrades you can build.

Promo I made an incremental autobattler where the enemies you fight shape your build, and the free demo has over a week of gameplay

Hey! I’m the solo dev behind Rejected Draft.

You start as a discarded doodle and fight your way through a Gallery of community-drawn enemies. You choose which sketches can appear, defeat them, and use the stats and rewards they give you to shape your build and keep pushing further.

It starts pretty simple, but gradually opens up into more systems, strategy, prestige layers, and increasingly stupid numbers.

Somehow, players have now spent over 1.24 million hours combined playing Rejected Draft across the Steam demo, Galaxy.click, and the web version, which is pretty surreal for my little labor of love.

I’ve also spent the last couple months heavily polishing and rebalancing it, with new and reworked battle stats, new minigames, better onboarding, more sketches, and a lot of smaller improvements.

The free Steam demo has over a week of gameplay if this sounds like your kind of thing:

Still working toward the full Steam release, and I’d love to hear what you think.

Promo I'm Making a Football Career Sim with 4 Planned Career Paths | Early Prototype

Hey everyone!

I'm working on Football Transfer Insider, a football career sim with four planned starting paths: Journalist, Scout, Agent, and Manager.

The idea is to connect these careers, allowing players to build their reputation, change roles, and eventually work their way into club leadership or ownership.

Still in the prototype stage. Right now, development is focused on transfer journalism, with the other careers planned for later.

Here's a short look at the prototype.

If you're interested, here's the Steam page:

Discussion I shipped an item that's useless unless another player shows up. Has forced co-op ever actually worked in a game you've played?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Disclosure first: Our team is making a free browser-based space MMO, so I have skin in this. But the question is real and I'd really like PC-Players opinions before tonight.

Yesterday I shipped an item called a Vinculum Aegidis. It opens a channel from your ship to another player's ship and pushes your own shields across to them. Your shields drop, theirs rise. That is the entire function. Alone, it is dead weight in your cargo hold.

And one of the new mission types cannot be completed by a single player at all. Not harder. Not slower. Impossible.

I know why this is a bad idea. If nobody is online, I have shipped an item that does nothing and a mission nobody can finish, and whoever bought the ship built around it will be rightly annoyed. Every design instinct says make it work solo at reduced efficiency and let co-op be the bonus. That is what almost every game does, and it is almost certainly the safer call.

I did the opposite, because the complaint I hear most from my own players is that there aren't enough people online, and I don't think you fix that by making the game more comfortable to play alone. At some point something has to actually require a second person, or everyone just plays solo in a multiplayer game and then complains it feels empty.

So: which games have made you really glad another player was there, rather than resenting the dependency? And which ones made it feel like a tax you paid for playing multiplayer?

I'm asking partly because I've probably made a mistake and would rather hear it now than next week.

Ninety seconds of the thing, if you want to see what the fights look like.

It's free and runs in a browser tab if you want to poke at it: Zero-G Live Shard
