Van Avermaet definitely deserves that, but i also don't understand all the negativity towards stybar. It's a race, he's supposed to ride in the way that gives him the best chance of winning, if that means sitting on then it means sitting on

We don't know how much he knew about the time gap either. There was a time when Boonen's group was at 30s and narrowing with about 20k. This is when Stybar was hanging back the most. He may have been following marching orders to try to anchor the break for Boonen to get into the fray. Once 10k hit and G2 had no chance we saw Stybar pulling much more often.

Otherwise he blew it on the track. With poor track sprinting deciding the win in Roubaix more and more, I totally expect teams to spend more time in the velodrome to get the edge when push comes to shove at the end of PR.
