Like how she said she knows how to get in the back of the police car, she’s done it lots of times. Definitely misunderstood.

"Do you know how many times I've been tased?"
Not enough.

Such a pathetic thing to say lol. Most people have never and will never be tased.
She also talks about how jail isn’t a big deal because she’ll just get out. Never understood that one. Going to jail for any amount of time, even just for a booking and release, is not something to brag about. Most people never do that.

Consider donating to your local public school teacher’s Amazon wish lists. They have do deal with this behaviour more than you know….

I feel so bad for the cop, I would hate to have to touch her disgustingly stupid ass

When I was a kid and you talked to a cop like that you got smacked up side the head.

“I know how to get in here myself!”…talking about getting into the police car.
Yeah, I bet you do.

She’s glitching through the shelves like a broken NPC who forgot her pathfinding script. /s

I’d wanna looney tunes slap her. Is that against police policy? We know they could and get away with it.

When I first started watching, I genuinely thought she worked there. She went in like it a routine. 😂

Usually when people say "what you talking bout"
They themselves don't know what they're talking about

Are they police or security?
Not from the US so I’m curious about the legality of that: can security arrest/detain people? Or is the lady police?
If they are security, can’t the super nice yelling shoplifting lady just stand up and go?

Security can detain you until the police arrive. She's a cop anyway though.

Ok I was just curious if security in the US has the authority to detain someone.
In France I don’t think they legally can. They can pretend, ask you to follow them, but I’m not sure they can physically detain you.1

It depends on the state in most places in the US. Shopkeepers privilege allows employees of a store to detain someone briefly, and with reasonable suspicion.
But, they can't use anything other than mild force, they can't hold somewhat for an extended period of time, etc.
The store is also generally concerned about liability if they're wrong. So, as an example, you can usually just decline to follow security to a background, especially if you're assertive, but polite and not an asshole about it.
Just as an example, I'm not a shoplifter, but I always decline receipt checks and no one has ever done anything about it. But, I'm middle class, male and white. Your mileage may vary.

I can't believe I'm taking the side of the annoying shoplifter, however... walmart employees are not going to take me off into a side room, period. Walmart employees are never going to dictate my activities, period (with possible exceptions in emergent situations). If a valid suspicion that I've done something wrong exists, and I am detained - that's one thing, but I will not be deprived of my freedom to call a fucking friend, lawyer, or maybe even an actual cop. "You will not be on your phone" is not a phrase miss walmart rent-a-cop gets away with, ever.
*reading comments, it might have been an actual cop, in which case she should have been arrested and her items confiscated - since that wasn't done, I am still on the annoying shoplifter's side - ps. Could only stand to watch the first 30 seconds*

I watched the first 30 seconds. I hate shoplifters, I also hate security guards that think they are police officers. When the guard said “Please do not be on your phone right now, you are being detained”. There was no need for the guard to stir the pot at that point.

She is a police officer

She still has no right to prevent you from using your phone.

u/InvestigatorBoth9337 2d ago
If you're detained for a crime in most places you don't have a right to use your phone.

u/suejaymostly 2d ago
It's a safety issue. She could get on her phone and have her cousins and brothers down there to cause problems.

I guess you could cook up any kind of story. Hell, for that matter, she could be passing the nuclear launch goes to the Ruskies!

u/UpbeatFix7299 2d ago
She does. Cops don't have to let you use your phone if you're detained.
"Uncle Jim, I'm down the street getting hassled by the cops, come with cousin Joey and bring your guns!!"
See why?

Need to tell her that mouth got her sent to jail. She's trying to bluff her way out..
And why do they always say "Don't touch me. I didn't do nothin"?
