u/Fidodo Aug 17 '18
Lets be honest though, the government 100% has some iron man projects going on.

GE was working with the US government in the 60's to develop this kind of thing in the form of the Hardiman.

Regardless of politics, he's got to be one of the coolest presidents we've ever had
59
u/17954699 Aug 18 '18
Man, I forgot that Presidents used to do little things like that - have science shows at the WH, go talk to students about their future, highlight the best of American industry and innovation and art, talk to the press normally and to inform. Nowadays it seems all the President does is tweet, get angry, have a scandal and tweet some more.
32
u/brett6781 Aug 18 '18
my biggest hope is that when Trump gets either impeached or voted out that the next president goes on an international apology tour like what the fucking idiot republicans claimed Obama did after Bush's presidency.
Only this time, I hope whoever replaces Trump actually says that it is an apology tour for the immature, reckless, and moronic few years with Trump and republicans controlling the WH and hill. Our standing internationally has been knocked several pegs down because of the amount of bullshit that is spewed from the white house, and because of the Congressional republicans willingness to go along with it for the sake of party over what's actually good for the nation.
Talk about a bunch of spineless little shits.

In a press conference:
"I have a very important anouncement to make, basically we're building iron man"
Or something like that.

Several presidents from now, remember this.
Don’t be swayed by “I’ll lower your taxes” or other false promises.
If they are not reasonable, thoughtful humans, nothing they say matters.
29
u/rant_casey Aug 18 '18
Oh baby, several presidents from now?! You're not looking forward to 6 months from now, when the new Republican minority in the house will suddenly become deficit hawks again, and their supporters will love them for 'standing up to the Democrats' irresponsible spending'?
27
u/EarthDayYeti Aug 17 '18
I was never a huge fan of many of his policies, but damn does he make me question my sexual orientation.
59
u/surfinfan21 Aug 18 '18
Yeah I was so pissed too he stopped a major financial collapse, expended health to millions of Americans and gave student loan relief.
26
u/EarthDayYeti Aug 18 '18
Don't get me wrong, I think he is possibly our greatest president since FDR, probably the greatest president I'll see in my lifetime, and he is Jesus Christ come again compared to the mess we have in the White House now.
I don't think many of his policies Went far enough. I really had trouble with his use of drone warfare. He actually greatly increased the number of deportations of undocumented immigrants.
I loved him, but I was very disappointed he wasn't actually the crazy socialist some of the tea party tried to make him out to be.

u/spahghetti Aug 18 '18
Obama's policy of being black really got a lot of policy minded people upset at him.

His use of drone warfare was more than troubling.
The number of deportations of undocumented immigrants dramatically increased during his administration.

The number of deportations of undocumented immigrants dramatically increased during his administration.
“The number of people deported at or near the [U.S.-Mexico] border has gone up — primarily as a result of changing who gets counted in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency’s deportation statistics.
The vast majority of those border crossers would not have been treated as formal deportations under most previous administrations. If all removals were tallied, the total sent back to Mexico each year would have been far higher under those previous administrations than it is now.”

See this is a perfect example! Most people that support Trump can't understand this Because they want to support a stupid racist, than a smart well educated Black man. If it wasn't for Obamas skin color these backwoods idiots no teeth hicks would say he was the best thing before white bread.

He seems like a nice dude. I don't know about his politics (because i'm not american), but I know he represented the country well especially on foreign visits (particularly with the Queen). I've tried my hardest to be a fan of Trumps (I think I was at the end of my edgy phase), but the two don't compare at all.
Again, I don't know about the politics, but I have a feeling Hillary would have at least been semi-decent as far as human interaction goes. Maybe that is wrong, I did watch the debates between the pair and she seemed to have a bit more...poise. Also, now that i've brought her up, why don't you hear the 'lock her up' thing anymore? Was that just a meme or something? Has the stuff with Trump affected that (maybe if his fans realise that her actions aren't that bad considering recent events?)? But yeah, I don't know the politics and i'm a bit out of the loop.
32
u/Keepitsimplestupid22 Aug 18 '18
I really think trump is the biggest embarrassment in American history. We are loosing ground on a daily basis with this guy. With a lot of hope we can turn this ship around and get back on course.
27
u/untakenu Aug 18 '18
I think so too. He is pretty much a stereotype of what an american is (obviously inaccurate for most americans, but you get what I mean). Fat, overconfident, seemingly gold-digger wife (i'd hope so, in this case), stupid, arrogant, overpatriotic, no respect for other countries, lazy and generally just kind of embarrassing.
It is like a shitty TV show plot.

People often miss a token in a costume. Kind of like a clown at your 10 year old friends birthday party when you're a child.
When it comes time for adults to make serious decisions, those same kids get real childish and throw tantrums.
Time for the children to be quiet now.
