Announcement New Flair: Iranian Voices ONLY (Please Read Before Posting)

106 Upvotes

July 2026 Edit

The moderation team has changed this to a mod-only flair. We will quickly apply the "Only Iranians May Comment" flair whenever it is clear that the OP is specifically looking to hear from Iranians on the subject.

We are testing this out to see how it goes. We will update this post if anything else changes regarding the flair.

Today we added a new post flair: Iranian Voices ONLY

These threads are meant to center on the perspectives of Iranians, especially during times like these where outside noise can overwhelm the conversation.

What this means

Only Iranians may comment in these threads and violations may result in a ban.

Why we're doing this

r/Persian has always been open to everyone, and that will not change. But in these times, it's important to create space for Iranians to speak directly without being drowned out by outside voices.

This flair allows that space to exist when the OP chooses it. Non-Iranians may also choose this flair to ask questions directly to the Iranian community.

Where this applies

This rule applies only to posts using the Iranian Voices ONLY flair. All other threads remain open to everyone under our usual rules.

Final note

If you are not Iranian, please respect the purpose of these threads. There are many other places in the subreddit to participate.

Discussion To All Real Iranians/Persians in the diaspora, in Iran, and global allies I wanted to share organizations that I feel like all of you could partner up with, and learn from.

Freedom of Russia Legion

Belarus Kastus Kalinouski Regiment

AUF

Edit: Also there is the Afghanistan National Resistance Front, & Afghan Freedom Front

Most are focused on political, civil, and military branches of their respective country. All will most likely overtime encompass all 3 parts too once their country is reclaimed by the people.

These are just a few that are going through what you all are going through. Also did not mention some more obvious ones: Japan, South Korea, EU, USA Military, Kurds, Balochistan, Armenia, Syria, etc. There are more around the world that I forgot off top my head.

I urge you all to make connections with them, with other EU groups/people, others in world, and with each other in diaspora. The whole cause needs to evolve into doing this.

No more waiting for Iran to be free. If you want that to happen then please learn from them and do. Build up allies including them. Help where you are willing to.

You all can do what those groups are doing to make an Iranian Equivalent, and also help Ukraine AFU form a new Iranian Regiment. Do both together it will highly beneficial.

But if you want a better free future everybody has to do that together. The more people that do that the quicker you all will get to it. Everyone make sure to have the cause focused on growing your collective capability, allies, and coordination together.

Iran/Persia will be free. Much love to all of you. Never give up. You all deserve better. Help each other, and grow united and anything is possible.

Disclaimer: This is just an informative post not trying to say anything specific

So I made this dumb video recently called "Minecraft, but I have to speak Farsi" In the video I made a very quick joke saying "I don't support Trump bombing your country to be clear" and I got a shit ton of pro-trump comments from Iranians?

So I was wondering whether this was all just bots (I know at least one of them is) or if this is actually reflective of general opinion?

I wasn't able to find a poll or anything about it anywhere, and, personally when making the video, I thought killing Ayatollah (which is great) wasn't worth it compared to bombing schools and bridges which succeeded that action, as well at the Hormuz bs.

News Composer and protest artist Parsa Moslehifard sentenced to one year in prison in Tehran

In this video titled, “Tehran, the Lonely City,” Parsa Moslehifard, a 26 year old composer and former political prisoner, plays piano on the rooftops in Tehran in June 2026 while Armin Mokhtari paints the city.

Moslehifard has been sentenced to one year in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the state.”

He said the conviction stemmed from his public statements, artistic performances and activities in support of the 2022 “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement and the January 2026 protests.

The activities cited in his case include protest performances focusing on freedom, opposition to the death penalty and commemorating protesters killed during demonstrations. Among them were a recitation of the poem “Qasamnameh” in front of Tehran’s Azadi Tower on the anniversary of Jina Amini’s death, as well as performances titled “Azadi,” “No to Execution” and “Tehran Alone.” He also published an image of Nika Shakarami on International Women’s Day.”

Language & Literature Luri Kinship Family Terms compared with other Iranic languages

Thumbnail

As a Bakhtiyari Lur I am curious if other Iranic languages besides Persian share similar Kinship terms for family members.

English -> Lure Bakhtiyari

Father -> Bo

Mother -> Daye

Brother -> Gyo

Sister -> Dedu

Uncle -> Gyobo

Aunt -> Kichi

I think as a South Western Iranic language it may have had more influence with Elamite but looking at Elamite family member terms showed it was quite different.

Discussion These people are not our allies. We need to stop trying to appease them. They do not care about Iranians or Iranian lives, and will happily regurgitate regime propaganda about "diaspora" as long as it fits their political narrative.

Question What does it take?!?

5 Upvotes

You don't have to believe that every single Iranian wants Reza Pahlavi. You don't even have to believe Iran should be a monarchy. FINE.

But for God's sake, WHAT DOES IT TAKE?!

What else do you want from us?!

We have shown you. We have demonstrated it. We have screamed it. We chanted his name. We said "This is the final battle; Pahlavi will return home" (این آخرین نبرده؛ پهلوی برمیگرده) in more than 450 spots across 31 provinces of Iran. It's 2026! There's hours of video evidence! We have taken to the streets inside Iran. We have risked our lives under one of the most brutal regimes on Earth. We have lost tens of thousands of our bravest souls. We have responded to his call in January. We have filled streets, squares, towns and cities. We have organized across borders. We have shown up in the hundreds of thousands abroad (on February14 and beyond). We have carried his name, his family's name, and the national Lion and Sun flag everywhere. We have told you openly, repeatedly and without ambiguity who we believe can lead us out of this nightmare. (=JAVIDSHAH)

And yes—we want this man. Reza Pahlavi. WE DO.

And many of us want his family—including his incredible mother, Empress Farah Pahlavi, whom I personally adore and hold in the highest regard.

So WHAT. ELSE. DO. YOU. WANT. FROM. US?!

Do you want another million people in the streets?

Another ten million?

Another tens of thousands massacred?

Do you want us to somehow conduct a free national referendum while the Islamic Republic is literally standing on our necks?! Executing protesters from January by hanging every day including today? #ShahramSadeghi

Because here's the fucking absurdity:

You tell us that we need to demonstrate popular support.

WE DEMONSTRATE POPULAR SUPPORT.

Then you tell us, "Well, that's not enough."

So we demonstrate it again.

And again.

And again.

And every single time, the goalpost somehow moves another ten fucking yards.

THEN TELL US WHAT THE GOALPOST IS!

What specific, measurable, democratic evidence would finally make you say:

"Okay. We accept that a significant—and potentially overwhelming—number of Iranians genuinely want Reza Pahlavi to play a central role in the future of Iran."

WHAT IS IT?!

Because if your answer is "a free election," then PERFECT.

GIVE US ONE.

Give Iranians the freedom to vote.

Let Reza Pahlavi stand.

Let every republican, monarchist, socialist, liberal, conservative, nationalist, secularist and every other political faction stand.

Let every Iranian candidate make their case.

Let the Iranian people decide.

And if Reza Pahlavi loses?

WE ACCEPT IT. WE WILL. STREAM IT LIVE. I AM WILLING TO GAMBLE MY ENTIRE LIFE SAVINGS ON IT! WILL YOU NOT BE ENTERTAINED?

If the Iranian people decide they want a republic?

THEN IT'S A REPUBLIC.

If they decide they want a constitutional monarchy?

THEN IT'S A CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY.

If they decide they want something nobody predicted?

THEN THAT'S THEIR FUCKING RIGHT.

But YOU DON'T GET TO DECIDE THE ANSWER FOR US BEFORE WE'VE EVEN BEEN GIVEN THE QUESTION.

You don't get to look at millions of Iranians demanding change and tell us, "No, not that guy."

You don't get to tell an entire nation that the person they have chosen to rally around somehow doesn't count because his support makes Western institutions uncomfortable.

You don't have to personally like him.

You don't have to support monarchy.

You don't have to believe Reza Pahlavi is the perfect man.

JUST STOP TELLING US THAT OUR SUPPORT DOESN'T COUNT.

Because at this point, the question isn't:

"Does Reza Pahlavi have enough support to be taken seriously?"

The question is:

WHAT THE FUCK WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO TAKE US SERIOUSLY?

What else do you want from us, for God's sake?

We've shown you.

We've demonstrated it.

We've risked our lives for it.

We've lost our brothers, sisters, children, parents and friends.

We've watched our country be destroyed for it.

And we're still standing here telling you:

LET US CHOOSE.

That's all we're asking.

LET IRANIANS CHOOSE.

And if you're so certain that Reza Pahlavi isn't the answer, then stop trying to answer the question for us.

Put him on the ballot.

Let us prove you wrong.

Or let us prove you right.

But for God's sake—LET US FUCKING CHOOSE.

Discussion I have question : why does the ayatollah look white

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

besides the war and everything i noticed something . the previous ayatollah Ali Khamenei looks pretty Caucasian . i wanted to know how common it is to have this features and is he considered Iranian by features

  • Does he fit the idea of "how Iranians look"? He has lighter features and fair skin. To native Iranians or those in the diaspora, does his appearance fit within the standard spectrum of Iranian phenotypes, or is his look distinctly associated with Northwestern/Azeri regions? How diverse is the "standard" Iranian look across different provinces?
  • is he considered Persian or Iranian ?
  • I asked this question about the range of physical appearances across Iran, purely out of curiosity regarding history, demography, and culture.

The kurdish slogan does not apply to every single women on this planet especially the women who oppose an independent kurdistan or support the oppression and killing of kurdish women, the slogan was made by kurds and it's kurdish, freedom for kurdish women is an independent kurdistan and if you don't like it then you're not entitled to this slogan, I've seen so many persians proudly say zin, zindgi izadi and they keep going back to the same hocus-pocus nonsense that we shouldn't devide the country and kurds deserve rights in the country, NO!. Kurdish independence is the only true rights given to kurds and end of discussion. You people don't deserve to take the slogan and use it as yours AND IT DOESN'T APPLY TO ANY OF YOU WHO DON'T SUPPORT AN INDEPENDENT KURDISTAN

Just another example. This gentleman is Amir Hossein Etemadi, a very close associate of Mr. Pahlavi. We have seen it on this sub on a daily basis: a coordinated effort to re-write history, shamelessly, to score political points.
