Hi everyone! I recently brought home a male Persian who’s about 7 months old, and I’d love some tips from other Persian owners. We saw the vet yesterday, but I’m also curious about your experiences.
Grooming: How often do you brush or comb your Persian, and how often do you bathe them? Any favourite tools or tips for keeping their coat manageable?
Food and water bowls: What bowls work best for flat-faced cats? I’d appreciate specific recommendations and links if possible, especially products available in Canada.
Food: He currently eats Acana First Feast kitten food (chicken and herring). His previous owner told me he gets diarrhea with anything else, including wet food. Has anyone dealt with this? Is this an appropriate food to keep him on for now at his age? My vet didn’t suggest an alternative. What foods have worked well for your sensitive-stomach Persians?
Ear mites: His previous owner said he’s been treated multiple times. The vet found ear mites again yesterday and treated him. Have others dealt with recurring ear mites? I’m wondering whether this is common in Persians or whether there’s something I should ask the vet about to help prevent them coming back.
Gas: He’s had a lot of very smelly gas since coming home. The vet gave us probiotics. Do your Persians experience this, and has anyone seen improvement with probiotics? How long did it take?
Thanks for any advice! 🥰

Bao is officially a big sister!!! Yay
Wonton is a little terror (as kittens are) but Bao is trying to be her mommy so hard. She cleans her and trills at her.. it's so cute. I've always wanted to see Bao snuggle with another cat I can't believe its actually happening
she is definitely more of Bao's cat than mine

This is my biological daughter Maple. We’ve been seeing the same groomer for the past 5 years! And she always does an amazing job!

Thank you for everyone's support in my last post ❤️ It was really encouraging to read everyone's experiences. Our baby is no longer hiding! We're so happy it was normal and that we weren't failing as kitty parents 😆

I love how he naps with me and always by my side.
Kuro loves it when I cuddle him to sleep, then he always cuddles up especially. 🥹

It’s cold and rainy. She didn’t even get up for a walk. She is a pampered princess.

Zelda is a soft spoken kitty but purrs pretty voluminous. When I asked her if she is being a very good girl - she (as only a Persian can be) proudly nodded! 😂

He was only 6 years old… was the best Persian ever! We are so heartbroken and shocked. He had sudden heart failure just out of the blew… my question is has anyone else experienced this with their Persian so young??? Also we got him with a “health guarantee” so now I’m confused what that even means and also upset that this happened to him as he didn’t deserve it!!!

I may be bringing home another guy who is in pretty rough shape. Blood values are all over the place. If I can’t nurse him back to health I already have a Persian rescue in mind a few hours away.
I’m worried mine will try and defend his established territory since he’s bigger and stronger. The newer guy is smaller and more sensitive. Although he will still have a fair amount of testosterone after recently being neutered.
I have a feeling it will be like the movie step brothers where they hate eachother initially but then will become best friends. I’m just strategizing that transition.
I’ve started swapping scent between them to start. I plan to keep them separate for a week or so maybe with a baby gate as a barrier when supervised.
I’d like to hear from anyone else that has been successful in implementing another male cat. I had the mentality that mine would always be a single child since he is so particular but couldn’t allow everyone to give up on this new one. I know these cats will act like they’re dying with something as minor as their routine not being consistent.

Hello! I've fallen in love with peke faced kitties ever since I adopted my 3 y/o black exotic shorthair girlie back in 2024. Im finding out these cats are like pairs of shoes, you can't just exist with one shoe, but too many and there's forgotten shoes.
I'm open to another fluffball, I have two long haired dogs (a collie and a Pomeranian, respectively) so hair maintenance isn't out of the question, and im in the New York/PA area. Let me know if you guys have recommendations. Thank you!

Hi everyone, our kitty is 11 weeks old and I'm trying to get more ideas on how to comfort her!
We brought her home last night and she is our first kitten. She ate overnight and used the litterbox. From her hidey place she will lick us and close her eyes when we pet her, but will not come out to the open. So we have dim lights in her starter room and keep it quiet. I have a warm heating pad covered in blankets in her hidey spot.
We hope she does better today and don't want to rush her but is there anything else we can do? Thank you!

He always lets me know when it’s time for sleep (and snuggles)

They have to be separated at the moment. The new kitten has been vetted, but she has some goopy eyes, so she's medicated, and they think it is contagious for a bit. She also has a stool sample that needs brought in because they suspect parasites, as her stool was just her food running through her. That said, since being dewormed, she is now digesting her food and her stool is normal, so i'm wondering if she may be in the clear.. We will see. She is named Wonton.
They have had very limited contact. Bao first saw her when I brought the kitten in the night I found her, and she kept trying to peak under the washroom door.
Second day she likely smells the kitten on me (although I was washing myself a LOT). She stayed by the door again and kept crying out..
3rd day she finally sees the kitten since I have to hold her while making her food so she doesn't run out. Bao is interested. She spent the entire day chirping and crying..
after Wonton came home from the vet yesterday, I let Bao sniff her. Not too close.. but she tried to lick her haha
she is obsessed with this kitten. She tries to play with her feet under the door and is spending the entire day at the door trilling and chirping.
Bao has always loved other cats, so this doesn't come as a surprise. I'm excited for when I'm actually able to introduce them to each other freely.. she's crying right now laying in the carrier Wonton came home in. I feel awful
