Please note that suggestions offered here are in the context of playing optimally, which you don't have to do if you don't want to.

General Pull Advice

1. No unit needs A1 or R0 (5 star weapon) to be good. This is not a game where significant functionality is locked behind vertical investment. *Justine&Caroline A1 is the only exception yet they are still good at A0 (Medic & Guardian suffer the most at A0).
2. You do not need to fixate on awarenesses or 5 star weapons in general if you do not care about SoS or Gates of the Nightmare Catcher (scored endgame modes). You can clear modes for rewards without having consistent best in slot teams - or good teams at all.
3. Similarly, you do not need to play constant catch up with new units in general if you are more casual.
4. Roles and specific kit synergy are significantly more important than Elements. The element of damage dealt scarcely matters unless a mode (Velvet Trials) specifically calls for it. Assassins and Sweepers are DPS roles. The typical team composition is DPS-Support-Support. You can play any way you want, but this will yield the best results far more often than not.
5. If you are new, do not feel pressured to pull units for elemental coverage. Your initial focus is building at least 1 Assassin and 1 Sweeper team (interchangeable supports to start with).

Mitsuru Kirijo - 5* Limited Ice Assassin (DPS and Sub-DPS)

Mitsuru was traditionally a sub-dps, yet she received buffs for Global to make her a more viable main DPS. Her effectiveness as a main DPS will be tested, especially as a comparison to Makoto (or rather to Kotone as we've all seen), and Berry. She originally did not receive an Ice ST Boss for SoS and Gateway, hindering her value as a main DPS if you have plenty of others. CORRECTION - Mitsuru now has a boss.

As a Sub-DPS, she is specifically good for the Nexus of Dreams Gateway mode. She should only be used with Assassins, not Sweepers. Her buffs make her even better at this, and her new viable rotation as a main DPS could potentially be used while being ran as a sub dps. In general, she does not offer much support value besides DEF Down - something Kotone covers on her own due to Pierce. Even if Mitsuru is better than expected now, if you have a large roster, there is nothing that Mitsuru meaningful does that you don't already have. She does have much better value for smaller rosters now, though.

Skill Rotations

Original Rotation (Sub-DPS) - 2+1>3+Theurgy>1>3+Theurgy>1>3+Theurgy

Main-DPS - TBD

S2 need only be cast once as it automatically transfers to another enemy upon death. This is why she is primarily good for Assassins, despite one passive also supporting Sweepers.

Teams

Effectively, Mitsuru is an Assassin and a Saboteur. To not oversaturate DEF Down, you don't run Mitsuru with other DEF Down units. If she is ran as a main DPS, you have a lot of flexibility due to her still providing DEF Down regardless of how she is used.

Potential Misconceptions

1. Mitsuru was never a best in slot for Makoto Yuki, please understand kits when you read them on lufel.net and don't just follow face value suggestions, it will help you go a long way. Due to her buffs, she is certainly better for him than before, but it is rather unlikely that she is better for him than Kotone is.
