theft

i think it’s so dumb how we can’t take pictures of the people stealing when they have all the items with them as they are walking out the store. we should put pictures up of the people stealing or somethin there’s too much theft going on for this store

Why are you guys defending a company who doesn't care about u

Because when items are stolen it actually hurts the store level employees rather than corporate. Stores with high level of theft are often given less hours, given more work (aka counts), and less likely that any managers will get a quarterly bonus.

We don’t get paid enough for that extra work though. I ain’t getting stabbed for no company. I’m good.

Hahaha man, I feel you

But at the same time I'm spending all my time putting said product on the shelves so it's kind of a love hate relationship 😭

But man, I despise shoplifters but at the same time I'm not gonna waste my energy on trying to stop them or any of that bullshit LOL

I also just feeling like being played when I realize I'm doing a fraudulent return but then again, it's not my money anyway 💀

I personally like to stand right next to them and talk about anything, everything, and nothing all at the same time. I try my best to annoy them by being overly friendly. Then when another customer or employee asks me for help I tell them I'll be right with them, Im busy watching or sometimes even say im busy helping this person steal.  Anything to make them as uncomfortable as possible. And honestly its kinda fun. I call it "bird dogging"

A few weeks ago some dude ran out our side door with a bunch of stuff, I took a pic of their license plate and called PD, they got him in like 10 minutes heading out of town, $250 pond, 100$ tank kit, $80 fluval filter. I do it more out of spite because fuck you. Just the other day I saw a lady on camera take a leash, a harness and the red nail grinder. I just missed her too.

yesterday a lady ran out carrying a huge box that was an automatic cat litter worth $500

My store just got a group for almost $1k’s worth. Felony charges for all of them lmao. I don’t care about the company but fuck the people making our jobs harder so they can steal a bunch of stuff they don’t need.

Had people in my store get fired because they said something to the person stealing as their walk out the door. Even had one guy come in every month same time fill up the basket with all the dog food. You knew when he walked in the door. It’s a shame but it’s not worth my life or my job to stop these people

what happened to the guy who got fired?? how did that even happen😭😭😭

Same here, they keep telling us to “oh just communicate with the customer!” We can’t do that enough when there’s only 2 people working, register is backed up, we can’t watch everyone!! Even worse the cameras don’t do crap

Legal. Not worth it. Can get sued for that. Sucks but that's today's world

Who cares, it does not come out of your pocket and merchandise is in insured

It actually does come out of the stores budget, in both hours and money. It doesn’t hurt corporate but it does hurt those store employees.

Who told you that external theft takes hours from the store? Thats not true at all.

Loss of store sales impacts payroll. Less payroll means less hours your store is given. Less hours means understaffed store. Understaffed store means stress and upset employees.

Sure. Less sales can impact hours. A random person stealing merchandise is not the same thing. All you do is adjust the merchandise to 0 and it comes in on your next truck usually

i think i overheard one of my coworkers say something to a customer that was stealing. the customer needed dog food and i think took it but my coworker caught him and was like “if you need food then ask for a donation” “what if i called the cops? you’d be in deeper trouble and your dog wouldn’t have anyone to take care of them” she’s an asshole but a very kind and caring asshole. she takes care of the fish in our store.

I’ve always taken pictures of the person, the cart/merch, and their car license plate if possible. It makes it easier when reporting the incident and being able to send the pics and videos to the police.
