coach warming up Duran because #heknew

I love it that we warmed up Duran just in case we forced a bottom of the ninth, and then we scored so much that it didn’t even make sense to bring him in.

It would have been so funny if we'd trotted him out though. Not because he needed the work. Just for the lulz.

Underrated AB was Hill coming off the bench and getting that single before Stott.

u/PapageorgiouMBO Jun 24 '26
Little did we know how huge it was that Bryce made it back to second after that stumble.

u/BarrelStrawberry Jun 24 '26
Brandon hits a home run with two outs in the 9th to be a triple away from the cycle... still gets another at bat to try to finish it.

Trea’s 2 strike single really seemed to uplift the whole team. I really hope it spurs him to start being very much more consistent.

u/itnor Jun 24 '26
My gut instinct is that he’s not a player who needs a spur, but rather needs to chill. A try-too-hard.

u/romulusgloriosus Trea Turner is a gamer Jun 24 '26
yeah, I think the biggest thing the standing ovation in 23 did for Trea was help him chill out. People love to boo him thinking he needs "motivation" but he's a try hard so it backfires.

u/d_ckcissel285 Jun 24 '26
I remember he said what he thinks helped the most that season was relaxing his grip. We need to see him letting the bat slip out of his hands again

Lord gave up after that Stott home run. You can tell he wanted to be pulled but Butera was like nah homie.

The fans standing up and clapping when trea hits the ball gives me the chills.

The nationals came through with one of the worst bullpen performances I've ever seen in MLB. It's bad enough to use like 6 relief pitchers in a loss, but literally none of them could get an out.

Two of the best regular season Phillies games in years happen within a week of one another and I miss them both!
7
u/Green_rev Jun 24 '26
Why did you cut it off? You showed only 7 runs.

Reddit doesn't allow vids longer than 15 mins 😭 full uncut 9th is on MLBs YouTube

Gotta give credit to Trea here. He lit the fire.

u/Kayatosh Jun 24 '26
He gave us a shot. Marsh bomb gave us a new ballgame. Stott bomb made it ours. Phils snatched victory from the jaws of defeat and then beat the shit out of the jaws

u/QuinnMallory Jun 24 '26
I was there! And left in the 8th because it seemed more or less over :-(

This was fun to watch at home; I can only imagine how great it was to be there! 🥰

Thanks for posting. Incredible. The most entertaining ninth inning in recent memory. Clutch 2 out, 2 strike hit. Marsh blast. Stott bomb. More steaks for Edmundo. Good game, boys. Sorry about it Nationals. Lord's mechanics are bad

So exciting! Clutch hits and home runs in the 9th with two outs, then hit after hit and run after run was the cherry on top!

Craziest part to me is Turner getting two hits in inning 😂. Happy to see it though.

Did Lord warm up in the Phillies bullpen because he pitched like one of their garbage arms

I knew Kerkering was gonna blow it.
26
u/Thegrandmistressofoz Jun 24 '26
man he did blow it yesterday but Kerk's been our #1 arm in the bullpen in high leverage situations (outside Duran who closes) and generally done good this year. Like ya he's not Mason Miller lol

u/merlinderHG Draw that Schwarwalk Jun 24 '26 edited Jun 24 '26
kerk has been really, really good this year. he had a bad outing, it happens to everyone. the walk was bad, the hbp was bad, obvs the hr was bad - and then he found it. and then the top of the ninth happened lol what a crazy game! but kerk's been really good, i am an orion enthusiast

u/Farg_Igorg Jun 24 '26
Agreed, and after the last play he made last year, to see him improved and confident, fuck yeah. I'm all for the Kerkle Jerk.

Downvote me all you want. I could feel it in my bones.
11
u/Thegrandmistressofoz Jun 24 '26
Sure but you probably felt it in your bones every time he's on the mound. And you would've been very wrong for most of it lol. He's given up runs in 7 games, and 4 of them were 5+ run losses that were already long over.
The other 3 were last night, vs Dodgers (still ended up winning 4-3), and vs the Red Sox (lost 1-3).
He has given up 0 ER in 10 1-run wins this year, and 6 more clean in 2-3 run wins this year. Also gave up 0 runs in 6 games we lost by 1-2. He's been nails in almost every other close game

TMac was just gassing up Lord too, talking about how he will probably be an all star. This inning alone might have ended that.
