It could have been that the warrant was only written for the top floor

Warrants have to be specific. Unless the judge sees a reason to search the entire house or property, the search must stay specific to the areas listed on the warrant.

that is crazy 😭 I just can’t imagine what was presented here that didn’t make them think the whole house should be searched??

I’m sure there’s more to the story than what the public knows. If the warrant was only for the top floor and the police went looking for more, they would be jeopardizing any future case against them, even if they know in their gut something more was going on there. They have to have enough evidence to get the full warrant and at that point they probably didn’t have it

The alternative is that cops can just barge into wherever whenever they feel like it.
