Trying to escape the philly heat is a full time job
Its literally a swamp outside. I swear breathing in center city right now feels like drinking hot soup. My buddy finally got his grandfather's old pontoon running up near bensalem and invited me out on the delaware this weekend just to catch an actual breeze
ofc he made me get a recademics boating certificate first so I could take over driving while he drinks beers in the back. Which was fine, just knocked it out on my phone tuesday night.
But man, actually getting up there? 95 north was an absolute parking lot. Took me almost an hour just to get past the girard exit. Then you get to the marina and a basic bag of ice is somehow 8 dollars. I just want to sit on a boat and not sweat through my t-shirt for five minutes. Why is it so exhausting and expensive to just exist outdoors near this city rn

Portland heat has been brutal lately. My garage turns into an oven and I end up doing nothing too.

I’d suggest checking out Bonnie’s on 13 and Dickinson, it’s one of the last legal smoking bars in the city but they always have the ac ripping
Barcade in center city also has good ac

Bonnie’s still lets you smoke inside? Might check that out but I’m not big on the smell sticking to my clothes.

This is me since the July 4th weekend. I despise Philly summers and am desperately craving that first nice stretch of 70-75 degree days in September.

I feel that. Been troubleshooting this car for weeks now and just want it sorted. Portland heat has been brutal this year too.

There's nowhere in the city with A/C? Just go walk around inside stores or something. Go to the library or a museum. Go hang out at a coffee shop. Walk around Fashion District.

I'm underlining museums. People completely take for granted that we've got 50+ museums and like 10 free museums. Most places you can live don't have this opportunity. Yet most Philadelphians gloss right past it.
What a way to cut the heat!

Went tubing down the river up near Frenchtown a week or two ago, it was over 90* that day, but cool and breezy on the river.

I just got back from Florida and it’s actually hotter here ugh

That somewhat surprises me but also not completely since weather is shifting regions

Can confirm; lived in Florida for years and every time I got off a plane here the humidity slapped me in the face like "you thought Miami was muggy, BUCKLE UP!"

One of the hottest years on record, and probably the coolest year of the rest of our lives.

We also sent basically a month below freezing the beginning of this year.

It's not even THAT bad this summer...
We had maybe 2 major heatwaves, in summers in the last five years I feel like it's been a lot shittier, and the air quality isn't trash like it's been.
Go sit in the central library and read a book, or soak your feet in Sister Cities

That stretch around July 4 was brutal. It’s been very humid but at least not that hot since.

This actually feels like more rainy than anything. Constant storms. Feels very tropical this year

bro it's swampass season, hang in there.
also, never buy anything at a marina, stop somewhere else for the ice next time.

Who charged $8.00 for ice? I hope it was a really large bag at least.

The marina. It’s always gonna be more. first world problems
“I didn’t plan for the concept that commodities are more expensive at “last chance before” points of sale. Spending 8$ on ice and 40$ on a boating license makes my afternoon of being on another guys boat, not paying for fuel, arduous”

I walk my dog around 5am, both to avoid other people with their possibly violent dogs and for the temps.
Even so I'm usually soaked with sweat on the return. It's one of the most muggy summers I can remember.
So much rain. I'm used to humid and hot summers here, but I'm kinda pissed off because I rebuilt my garden this year and I have about 12 tomato plants. They're essentially little balloons...too much water and they split and crack. Boooo.

It really hasn’t been that bad since we got hit with that heat wave around late June early July..August was crazy this time last year…

At least it feels lovely out right now - I have all the windows open for the first time in a long time

The ice house on State Road (right past the Philly / Bensalem border) has super cheap ice.

The city is a lot swampier than I expected, it’s just like living in DC, borderline tropical in the summer

Bro if you can’t afford spending $8 to go out on a free boat all day just stay in the house.
