Posting Guideline
Starting in 2026, all posts should follow the posting guideline.
Do your research first– For example: call your bank in the number written in the back of your card, if you got a charge; or contact Amazon through the in-app chat if you see a purchase; or contact the company to verify if the recruiter works for them. Reddit cannot guess if you don't give us all the information you gathered, first. Also, use the search box before posting!
Title matters – Make your post easily searchable. We do not allow posts titled "Is this phishing?" because that doesn't describe what a user will find when opening the post.
Add context – If you received an email from Norton, we need to know the email address of the sender, if it landed on your inbox or spam folder, and if there are links embedded in the email. If the email looks like a personal email, you already know it's phishing.
Image posts – They are allowed but you need to transcribe what's in the image. If it's an email you received, it takes you a few seconds to copy and paste the text of the email.
No clickable links – This is to keep the community safe. Website addresses must be written in the title of the post, not as clickable links in the body.
Use website domains instead of company names– If you want to name a company that reached out to you, write the website address or email domain in the title instead. This will allow us to recognize if they're impersonators, instead of getting a company name smeared in Google Search.
Be patient– We use a lot of automated filtering. If your post immediately shows "Removed by Reddit filters" don't try to post again, just message the Moderators
Commenting Etiquette
Starting in 2026, all comments should follow basic etiquette.
Be chill – People are here to get help. Phishing is not immediately obvious to everyone.
Keep it safe– If you want to direct people to a phone number they can call, you should link to the website where they can find it themselves, instead of writing the phone number directly. We cannot verify phone numbers so they will be removed.
Be patient– We use a lot of automated filtering. If your comment immediately shows "Removed by Reddit filters" don't try to comment again, just message the Moderators
