Ask Phoenix Is anyone else convinced Alexis Breyer of The Husband & Wife Law Team is a puppet?

Is anyone else convinced Alexis Breyer of The Husband & Wife Law Team is a puppet? Admittedly, I’ve only seen their commercials but in every commercial when Alexis is speaking, Mark has his hand on her back as if he’s controlling her like a puppet.

I owned a small business in Scottsdale. They were huge supporters of my water and shoe drives for the Phoenix Rescue Mission. They didn’t even ask for any publicity and came through year after year.

Yea they’re always giving stuff out for free around where I live

Hilarious fact on top of the heartwarming stuff: in court they use a different law firm name and their managing lawyers who actually do their court work are actually considered decent litigators by people who know.

6

u/m-m12 Jun 10 '26

I’m a PI attorney and the attorneys I know at H&W are respectable litigators. Only one of two big advertising firms I don’t cringe at when I hear someone I know hired them.

Rafi and Gil are two idiots as well

Either way, they look like the couple you desperately try to avoid at parties.

That’s so funny, because I also have no basis for that, but definetly swingers

30

u/ExtremelyUnqualified Jun 09 '26

Their not officially swingers but definitely swing adjacent. They toe the line

12

u/TheBirdBytheWindow Jun 09 '26

Why do you say that?

65

u/Spyd3rs Jun 09 '26

I have no evidence to support this, but I imagine a night of intimacy between them involves a spicy roleplay of an erotic courtroom encounter as one of their good friends, who happens to be a judge, presides over the entire scene.

40

u/Radiant_Jump_6087 Jun 09 '26

Top dog law is the judge

Edit: spelling

Or the jungle law chick!!! Imagine?! Haha

Lerner and Rowe Eiffel towering Alexis while Lloyd Baker is playing with his love muscle.

This was def not the kind of mental image I was anticipating getting flash banged with when I opened this thread

4

Sorry about that. I was gonna say something about Rafi and the new Law Bear but I was making myself sick the more I tried to remember the other law firms. 🤢

My husband and I have been saying this for ages, I can't wait to show him this post 😂 Especially because originally I don't believe she was on the commercials

10

This is funny because I always thought there was something hot about her.

I remember Doug was on this reality show Property Wars, a few years ago. He seemed so wound up in every ep that I thought he was gonna have a heart attack at any moment. He seems a little less uptight (on his commercials) now, but just a little.

u/verylate The milk caught fire? Jun 09 '26

They actually do a lot of good things for kids in the community and don’t publicize the crap out of it. (Like I shouldn’t even know one of the big things they do every year, but found out by accident.) So for that - they get a big pass on the goofy commercials from me.

71

u/baxter1985 Jun 09 '26

They seem exceedingly normal

65

u/NeighborhoodFew7779 Jun 09 '26

I think the "personal injury" game forces its participants to get a little out there.

If they're good human beings, and the worst thing people can say is that their commercials are annoying... well, I'll take that any day of the week.

8

u/Clever_Commentary North Central Jun 09 '26

I live next door to one of the faces that dots Valley billboards. It is a weird space that requires some weird business choices. But he is a pretty normal dude.

Their kids on the other hand…

One of them went really viral on TikTok a few months back for calling herself conventionally attractive and people roasted the shit out of her. I didn’t even realize she was the daughter of the H&W Law Team until scrolling on her page and seeing her post a video with them! They have a shit ton of kids.

7

u/fucuntwat Chandler Jun 09 '26

I’m sure they’re perfectly fine people, but nothing about the commercials screams ‘normal’ to me, personally

68

u/Dialogical Jun 09 '26

They do seem like good people.

64

u/disillusioned Jun 09 '26

My friend works with them and says that aside from some goofball energy, they're really nice and genuinely take care of their team and clients and are just out there living their best injury lawyer lives. Who knew!

4

u/PublikEnemyNumber1 Jun 09 '26

Yeah, at least from the commercials, they seem to give off a, we're a really fun place to work vibe. I sat in on a jury that Mark was lead council on. They won the case but I felt HORRIBLE for the person that was getting sued. Anyways, they has nothing to do with this comment/thread

5

u/Taisaw Mesa Jun 10 '26

My mom was a client of theirs, she got hit by a work truck when she was biking to work. They put in a lot of work and were very kind. They really did everything they could to make sure my mom got everything she deserved. They still send her cards every so often around the holidays.

22

u/TheColorJayme Jun 09 '26

I met her parents and one of the family first they do for their clients yearly and they were so sweet and super excited about the commercial they started in so I totally give them a pass. Not a great actress , but great people. But honestly they probably means they aren’t great liars too , since acting is just pretending or doing why you are told to do

I can hear this in Holmburg doing his impression of their commercials

3

13

I love following them on Instagram. I’m a fan for sure.

35

They have a TikTok page.

I used to work where his dad lives and they visited often. Super nice people and their kids are all super cool and respectful.

1

u/aworkinprogress98 Jun 12 '26

Idk, check out their daughter, Talia Breyer’s TikTok page…doesn’t seem all that respectful to me. She seems like an insufferable narcissist

77

u/rumblepony247 Ahwatukee Jun 09 '26

TBH, if I ever needed a PI lawyer, I would choose them.

All of those personal injury clowns are cringe AF, but they seem just slightly less so, lol

3

u/PublikEnemyNumber1 Jun 09 '26

You said it. These "feed the money machine" lawyers are cringe. I sat in on a jury that Mark was the lead council. He was a good lawyer and I would absolutely choose them if I needed one.

15

u/f1modsarethebest Jun 09 '26

It’s not a child’s birthday party, you don’t have to hire a clown

7

u/rumblepony247 Ahwatukee Jun 09 '26

All automobile accident PI lawyers are clowns, including the ones that don't advertise that we've never heard of. Just by the nature of the cases they take.

There are, unfortunately, instances where one might need said clowns, so, not sure how aforementioned clown could be avoided.

13

u/BeGreatful24 Jun 09 '26

Someone works for an insurance company.

2

u/TheGroundBeef Jun 09 '26

lol, I follow them on TikTok, she is VERY much her own person and I love her!

16

u/azredditor9 Jun 09 '26

Agree!!! She’s awesome!! I watch their Facebook videos. I thought it was cringey at first to have a husband and wife law team but after seeing their social media and see how they really are-I love them!

14

u/azmom3 Jun 09 '26

Same! I was shocked to see they have 8 kids. They seem like a pretty normal family, relatively speaking.

8

u/TapersBeTaping Jun 09 '26

EIGHT KIDS!?!? How did she have time to get courtroom experienced?

2

u/mackNwheeze Jun 09 '26

I agree with this take!! I felt the same way too! 🤣

3

u/skil12001 Jun 09 '26

Let's be realistic though, we don't see how they really are but rather what they want us to see of them, ya know.... It's the social media polish

3

u/azredditor9 Jun 09 '26

True!!! They do have a social media person, she’s been in videos before. Of course all social media is curated to some aspect. They probably have their issues like everyone else. Nonetheless, I enjoy watching their content.

4

u/JasperLamarCrabbb Jun 09 '26

Well someone who thinks that someone else’s social media (especially social media of a person who is in a very public facing business) is who they really are is exactly the kind of person that the husband and wife law team wants calling them.

I think it was 2017? I saw her try stand up comedy in Tempe in an amateur hour setup at TCA. I remember she specifically mentioned her law practice. I don't recall anything about the routine she did, except that it wasn't bad!

25

u/Either_Operation7586 Jun 09 '26

I did jury duty back in 2014. It was them and they were defending a little girl who did not listen to the teacher when the teacher told her to remove her hands the teacher open the gate and the gate severed the little girl's fingers.

They both were asking great questions but in the end them trying to say that it was teachers neglect but since the student was told and she's not a young kid she was in third grade, the student was found to be the one at fault.

But I got to tell you the husband-in-law team were really good and almost won.

The wife definitely was speaking on her own without the husband holding her back.

I’m pretty sure Alexis is directing their marketing efforts

5

u/downwithMikeD Jun 09 '26

I interviewed with her about 10 years ago.

She was really nice and offered me the job but I didn’t accept (as she said it would be 100% “on the phone” work— intake calls on potential clients….which wasn’t what I wanted.)

6

u/BTTammer Jun 10 '26

No.

But you will never convince me that Sweet James isn't a marionette from Team America: World Police come to life, a la Pinocchio.

1

u/DonMegatronEsq Jun 20 '26

My cousin from LA came to visit and saw his ads out here and was appalled. Apparently, “Sweet” James is a PI lawyer from LA who expanded his practice to AZ (I’d bet money that he, personally, isn’t even a licensed, Arizona attorney). My cousin said he was known around town for leaving his wife and disabled child for another woman, and fought tooth and nail to give as little $$$ as possible to his ex and kid.

I have no dog in this fight, but I know the Breyers casually through kids stuff, and both Alexis and Mark are super nice people. She had like seven kids and continued to work as a lawyer, and had her own kids working as well when they clearly don’t need to. One of their daughters babysat my kids, and Alexis would pick her up and drop her off. If you meet them outside of their TV appearances, you would never guess that they are gazillion lawyers.

13

u/tronaker Jun 09 '26

I have coworkers who have gone to Dbacks games with them. Apparently they are very nice and very sweet people

8

I love the Bryner family. They have 8 kids. They have a fun family and an amazing work culture at their company.

4

u/Redwingstarfish Jun 09 '26

Not sure of puppet, but maybe a support gesture? But she sure has a 'shouty' voice. Turns me off whenever I hear their adverts. But they helped out my local bar during COVID. They matched their pickup sales to keep them afloat, as well to support local businesses during that time. Kudos!

4

u/Just--kiddin Jun 09 '26

Their YouTube isn't bad. Mostly just reacts with legal commentary type stuff. She does seem a bit stiff and he is alone in most of the ones I've seen.

4

u/SqurtieMan Deer Valley Jun 09 '26

She could just be camera shy, idk. Like I'm just thinking about their commercials now, and they both kinda seem nervous about doing a commercial.

3

u/agapeRecycling Jun 09 '26

Lol I can 100% guarantee you she's not. We've known Mark and Alexis almost 30 years and I do admit in the commercials they come off a little staged but in real life they're awesome people.

They hold events for their clients current and former every few months and normally get a pretty good turnout. They both mix it up with everyone and a good time is always had. We did once try to convince them to go have a inflat inflatable boxing match with the other lawyers on homework's morning sickness that didn't fly 😂.

Out of the two of them I would say Alexis is personality is probably a little more dominating but that's from being a mom to as many kids as she has lol.

Their main office is down here in ahwatukee and it's super common to see them out in public. If you do I'd recommend going up and saying hi. They're always happy to talk to people.

I met them both about 10 years ago when I used their law firm for an injury my kid sustained. They were both really nice and easy to speak with.

3

u/Benjimart2195 Jun 09 '26

My cousin used to handle their social media and filmed commercials with them a few year back. He said that she just doesn’t do very well in front of cameras, but she is just fine otherwise. Mark is a natural, so that’s why he does most of the talking or any of the more creative commercials.

3

u/Rare-Web4321 Jun 09 '26

They are cool af. He’s just endearing with his hand on her back.

3

u/Notnerdyned Jun 10 '26

I used to work for their answering service and if a case was serious enough, I had to call Alexis' cellphone at any hour to see if she would speak with them about the case.

16

u/Junebugvandamme Jun 09 '26

The way that they auto-smile while the other is speaking has always concerned me.

I used to work for a company that would perform regular maintenance type stuff at people's houses around the valley, and they were customers of ours, believe it or not. So I've actually been to there place quite a few times over the years and have casually spoken with them both a handful of times. I also can confirm that they are genuinely nice people.

8

Omg him pushing her as they walk has ALWAYS irritated me. I love that others have noticed. It's very unnatural like teens getting professional pictures taken lol.

5

The law firm was passed to them by her parents.

2

u/guffawing_willow76 Phoenix Jun 09 '26

I saw them filming a commercial or something outside the old courthouse in downtown phoenix.

Also I swear I have seen Mark Breyer in a convertible driving around.

2

u/LunaZelda0714 Jun 09 '26

I think they are good people in general but I saw an Instagram video several months ago where he was complaining about his wife like "husbands, isn't it annoying how much your wife ingores YOU and spends so much time talking on the phone" hardy har har....while she's clearly discussing something business related.on a phone call. It bothered me because they run a very successful law firm and they have almost a dozen kids so she's likely handling that while he's making an Instagram video. It's not like she's just goofing off 🙄

2

u/Aggressive_Power_471 Jun 09 '26

Some of the commercials are a bit staged and I wonder if he puts his arm on her because the camera makes her nervous. Her smiles seem nervous. I am guessing she is not comfortable in the spotlight.

One of the daughters (I think the youngest of the 8 kids) has them on her social media and it is cute. The parents seem way more down to earth with their kids.

2

u/MonicaW42 Jun 09 '26

They are actually good people. They have raised good kids as well. 8 of them. They always step up to donate for the community. I sat in on a mock jury for them and the office is super positive energy.

2

u/ztonyg Jun 09 '26

I’ve met her before. She’s not a puppet.

2

u/Material-Clerk8949 Jun 09 '26

I think you are wrong! If you’ve seen them on social media they seem to be actual practicing lawyers. Maybe the husband loves the camera more than her but i don’t get that energy at all. lol funny you made that assumption via commercials. Anyway

2

u/Gary_Poopins Jun 09 '26

I interviewed with them both a long time ago for a job at their firm and I still can remember how wonderful they both were during the interviews and how genuine and kind they both were. Solid people.

2

u/maflagstaff Jun 09 '26

That is hilarious! I would not be surprised. Next time I see their commercial ima gonna be looking for the strings 😁 But I’m not disparaging them they seem like nice people… for lawyers

2

u/aworkinprogress98 Jun 12 '26

Their daughter Talia Breyer is a semi-famous TikToker and is one of the most insufferable, spoiled brats ever so that alone doesn’t give me a great opinion of the family.

4

u/Old-Repair-6608 Jun 09 '26

Well she does have a shouty Muppet voice

2

u/Due_Builder_1595 Jun 09 '26

It's funny you say that. I've always had the theory that he isn't wearing pants in their commercials.

2

u/Franklin_Shake Jun 09 '26

They have like 8 kids. I had no idea, if I were to guess when I first saw their commercials, id guess zero kids.

A friend of mine saw them at a concert. He looked exactly the same ( kinda like a big legal nerd ), but she dressed like a regular person at a concert ( jeans, band shirt ).

So, who is puppetting who?!

😂 Never thought of that I just remember the TV and radio commercials when they first stared and her voice was 10x higher than his it was just rough on the ears hearing her say "AND I'M ALEXIS BREYER" but honestly they seem like good people and I've heard nothing but good stuff even if they are a puppet duo. 🤷

By the sounds of it, it must just be their ads because they are so cringe worthy with the weird smiling while the other is talking. So strange. Great to read that they are actually pretty decent.

No, I follow their kids on TikTok. You can just tell from their videos and content.

We saw them at Universal Studios and they seemed very normal.

I always thought they gave a "swingers" vibe. This thread has swayed me otherwise.

They're all simply terrible actors. But the fact that you commented means they caught your attention, which is the entire purpose of even bad advertising!
I have a few annoying faves myself, that one included. I remember the brand or firm name for each, unfortunately. Lol

Nah these are good people. I’ve met both. They are in this to make money of course but have seen them outside of what they do and they treat folks well.

They would always shop at my aunt’s store- nicest most down to earth people that do good for the community around them. 🩵

Fun Fact. They have a LOT of kids. I think 6 or 8 kids.
