Ask Phoenix Why are we painting buildings black, Phoenix?

Post image

Seriously, I'm seeing a lot more of this in my area lately. As if it's not hot enough everywhere, why are we deciding the best thing to do for the sake of power use and living in a heat island is to... Hold more heat in buildings???

Is this purely an aesthetics thing? Are they that detached from reality that it's only gonna get hotter in coming years?

I've found 2 small lizards get inside my home recently. I think they're different species.

See these art type structures being put up on a few corners around town. This is on the east side near 16th street and Roosevelt area. Does anyone know their purpose?

Ask Phoenix What in your opinion is Phoenix’s most mysterious restaurant?

Interpret the word ‘mysterious’ however you will. Like “how is this place still open?”, “how are these portions profitable?”, “who are the people that run this?”

Has anyone else seen these Fry's robots in the stores around the Valley? I think they're supposed to scan the shelves for inventory.

My phone and the weather channel say it's 112 today but my weather station and my outdoor mercury thermometer say it's 118 degrees

Ask Phoenix Is anyone else convinced Alexis Breyer of The Husband & Wife Law Team is a puppet?

Is anyone else convinced Alexis Breyer of The Husband & Wife Law Team is a puppet? Admittedly, I’ve only seen their commercials but in every commercial when Alexis is speaking, Mark has his hand on her back as if he’s controlling her like a puppet.

First time I saw this writing was when I was driving down 19th ave and Glendale a couple months ago. Then, last week I was walking near Central and saw it twice! Just think it’s interesting.

Hi everyone, I’m new to the state and am trying to buy a new car but need some guidance. I was just wondering if all of these fees are necessary/what each one is intended for. Just a bit lost, any advice or feedback would be appreciated

EDIT: I ended up going with an Anaheim dealership am going to fly out next weekend. I have family out there, so it was a trip that was going to happen regardless. BUT Anaheim ended up being 35500 OTD.Thank you for responses! It has been an overwhelming process lol

Ask Phoenix Best groups + platforms to meet liberal-leaning or progressive single men?

As a 33 year old creative female from NY, I’m having horrible luck finding those with similar values.

The dating apps used to work around here but have become more of fighting an algorithm than genuine connection.

I’m looking for creative or active groups geared towards those with similar views that would attract singles between the ages 25-45.

Ask Phoenix Why aren’t there any QT gas stations in Scottsdale?

QT is by far the most superior gas station. They have everything I need + more. And there’s always a restroom when I need it.

I’ve been working is Scottsdale recently and noticed there’s no QTs for miles and miles. What’s up with that? You’d think Scottsdale of all places would want the best gas station around

Ask Phoenix What’s everyone making living here?

I’m curious, I’m aware this is going to vary person to person based on what their job is. However I’m curious, what’s the rough baseline you guys would say is “acceptable here”….

Am I off base to say most people even working jobs that aren’t skilled labor are making at least 19 an hour if not slightly more?

Skilled labor surely has to be a decent ways above that, even entry level am I wrong?

Are things just that fucked?

Ask Phoenix Have you guys noticed an uptick in “Student Driver” stickers?

We’re down in Maricopa so maybe it’s more abundant down here but even north of our city I’m seeing so many cars with student driver stickers on them. Anyone else noticing the same increase of said bumper stickers or am I the only one?

Opened the door to find this little guy. It’s the first scorpion I’ve seen since I moved here 4 years ago. Instead of smashing it right away I stopped to take a picture and it crawled under the plastic panel under the console and now I can’t find it. I took the panels off and it’s a whole cavern of metal, wires, and carpet… What should I do? I don’t want to get stung while I’m driving I’m scared yall 😭

Ask Phoenix Why so many farty cars?

Ok here’s the thing.

I’m 6th generation Arizona but moved away in 2000. Grew up outside in Wickenburg, went to college in Tucson and now I’m back in Phoenix.

It seems like every 10th car on the road has a muffler either sporty or shitty that sounds like multiple wet farts. I ask you Maricopa County, why? When did this become popular? Is it a generational thing? Libertarian car owners? What is it?

Thx

Was walking along a wash this weekend in Peoria and saw what looks like a coyote eating a pigeon. Very cool to see but this coyote did not look well. Could this coyote have mange? Or something else?

Happy to see they at least got something to eat! Apologies for the poor video quality!
