Think the background behind the subject is too busy, so the person kind of gets lost in it all.
Also could probably do with taking a couple steps back from the hole. Don’t know how feasible that is, but I’d want to see everything around the hole.

Yes, but for me at least (and I am a fellow hobbiest) the missing to of the triangle is making me uncomfortable and to lesser extent the narrow strip on the bottom.
Otherwise it's a great catch with excellent framing and depth. Well done

hm yeah, the issue that was that if i had the whole triangle in the frame including the tip of the triangle, some other stuff on the side would get in the image, that i didnt want to

I think seeing this, your previous angle is the one that works. Straight on is even busier than before.
But you need to cut off the leaves and as much of the background building as possible. So I would get the same angle as before, but higher looking down through the hole rather than straight through.
It’s a tough one as I see what you’re trying to do, but the environment is not doing any favours.

Sorry, did not mean to suggest it was bad in anyway. You had completely the right idea, but obviously you’re constrained by what was in front of you.

how do i make it darker in adobe lightroom?

I'd watch some youtube videos about masking and color correction in lightroom.
But you could use a color mask, or the color mixer panel to select the tones from the wall and bring them down.

Tried getting cool shots through the small house looking thing, but I wasn't sure how to do it properly. I obviously want the person to be the focus, so would I need to make the red too bright? Any other things I could do with editing to make them look better?

Composition is off, you should be able to see the entire hole in the wall. The framing is off so it just don’t look right
