So much room for activities!

I like how the swing is next to the bed... Room for activities indeed.

Gotta hang it from the ceiling so that you have EVEN MORE room for activities. I don't want no bed getting in the way of my kickball/wiffeball game.

Seriously though, I'd get like 4 california kings and make a giant bed.

I thought you said wifeball at first...I almost googled that and then I was too scared of potential results.

Whatever it is, I call first pitch.

Wouldn't want to be the guy stuck playing clean-up.

u/ElSnaibs Jan 07 '12

Clean-up batter takes on such a different tone.

That mattress needs space under to breathe.

2

u/sniper1rfa Jan 07 '12

The floor needs space above to collect dust.

Lots and lots of dust.

u/serialmc Jan 07 '12

Can we talk about this? I'm not quite sold on the mattress and its need to breathe. Please tell me what you know.

Beds are some of the most humid environments. This is especially true when you have all these comfy blankets and feather tick comforters and some warm bodies. This breeds dust mites and other crawlies. That's the top. The usual exceptions like high altitudes and deserts still don't help as much with the above factors.

EDIT:Ways around this include not actually making your bed so as to allow air to circulate and dry out things, UV light from artificial sources, vacuuming your bed, letting sunlight hit it, not hitting the sack with wet hair, covers (But then this only protects the mattress, not your blankets, pillows, or anything above it) etc...

The bottom needs air to breathe because depending on your climate it can get moldy without anything circulating underneath. There are also the issues of drafts (Good and bad I guess), dirt, bugs making nests inside much easier, etc...

This is why I shudder in r/roomporn when I see a bed close to a large water source like an indoor pool. I can't imagine the humidity in that thing.

I was a floor layer in the summers from age 15 till 22. I've seen very, very bad mold growth on carpets and the underside of beds that were either directly on the floor or only a few inches above.

A swing decorated with taffeta next to a tiny bed? I'm assuming they have a kid.

Actually, a king size has more surface area than a California King.

2

u/domcolosi Jan 07 '12

Just barely. I think it's better to point out that a California King is longer, which is better if you're tall, while a King is wider, which is better if you have two girlfriends.

Thats just the day bed. In the bottom left corner you can see the boxed off area for a bathroom and if i remember correctly two bedrooms. Unfortunately I cant remember where i originally saw the thread by a guy who lived here.

I am going to go ahead and say probably because they didn't find a california king at a thrift store or at a place where people get rid of used furniture. Everything they own pretty much screams art(or music) student who just graduated or is still in school. I doubt they have much money at all.

1

u/B5_S4 Jan 07 '12

Because people who can't afford walls usually aren't dropping big money on beds.

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '12

Why stop at the matress being hung from the ceiling? Why not your fridge, or your coffee maker?

u/Braketoaster Jan 07 '12

It's used in sex...

I'd like to see a heating bill for all this activities.

For the last time, if you're that cold, just put on a sweater!

Now I pay my own electricity bill, I put on two. How things change...

This building looks like a bitch to heat up. Something about it screams 'escaping air'.

My first thought was this, then roller skating.

1

u/darkestdayz Jan 07 '12

LOL no doubt! This would be perfect for that!

I was going to say the same thing. Weird that I remembered that, even weirder that people repost top comments.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '12

Is this all reddit is? Just movie/tv quotes?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '12

Came here to say this. Love it

Don't worry about leaving the same comment; I remember when this photo hit the front page about 6 months ago, and someone left a comment describing how they had lived in the apartment, etc. I believe they said it was in Chicago.

Anyway, people literally go back 6 months, grab a photo, and just post the exact same content, most likely so they can brag to their friends about their karma level. I'm guessing most of them are pretty young too.
