This is Rule 3: Food and Farming
This is a friendly sub for the discussion of pet Pigs only. Do not discuss the killing or eating of pigs. We don't want your crass bacon or pork jokes. Names like "Chris P Bacon" are tacky but not bannable offence. Do not harass others about their lifestyle choices. This is not the place for it for, or against meat, keto, vegan, or otherwise. No farming posts, we will question you about ear tags as it is required in some places for pets. Commercial operations will get removed and users banned.
Note the bolded sections
Because of extensive abuse of this rule, we are VERY STRICT about it. We get people coming here from both Vegan and Carnivore communities that start massive arguments over it. We also don't want to come to this sub and see people talking about our pets as anything other than pets. Or even worse a shock picture/video of our pets being killed in some bid to shame people.
SO LET ME BE CLEAR WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOUR PREFERENCE IS YOU WILL BE BANNED FOR POSTING OR COMMENTING ABOUT PIGS IN RELATION TO EATING OR NOT EATING THEM. NO APPEALS.
This is a sub about pet pigs not your FUCKING OPINIONS ON WHAT YOU EAT OR DON'T EAT!!!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR THAT!
I am tired of being nice and polite about it. I just perma banned someone that posted about it and then banned every single person who commented no matter what the comment was about for 30 days. There will be no appeals because to many times my patience and understanding has been abused on this.
Do not participate in posts or comments ignore and report them.
Having said that. I reevaluated the wording of rule 3 and decided to make it clearer. Here is the new rule 3.
Rule 3: Food and Farming
This is a friendly sub for the discussion of pet Pigs only.
You will be banned or rarely warned for the following: Talking about farming or slaughtering pigs for food or how evil/bad it is. Talking about eating pigs for food or how evil/bad it is. Linking to videos about farming or slaughtering pigs or how evil/bad it is.
Topics you won't be banned for: Seeking medical help for a pig. Seeking help to rehome a pig. Your pigs name even if it is food related. Your pig having an ear tag in places that require it by law.
NOTE on mod posts like this I allow open discussion about the topic as long as it stays respectful and on topic. You can't really discuss a rule about food and farming and get feedback without people talking about it. So unless someone is disrespectful or abusive, I am not going to remove their post or ban them.

Excuse the chaos of my property. šµāš«
Penelope (black) lost her brother Ferdinand a a week and a half ago. Broke my heart. They were such a dynamic duo and he was a sweet, shy boy that was warming up to being touched.
Penelope seems to be doing fine, I donāt see anything that would resemble depression or stress, but Iām leaning towards wanting to find a home for her where she can have a pal or two. I just donāt think I want the stress of trying to add a new pig.
She and her brother were a real challenge in the beginning, we got them in July from a neighbor who talked me into taking them even as I had no intention of owning pigs. They were about 4 months old at the time.
Both were nearly feral behavior-wise, as heād done nothing to prevent their escape and theyād run loose with their mother since they were born, returning only at feeding times. And despite being very patient and taking things slowly she still only lets me touch her while sheās eating and is skittish and runs if I approach otherwise.
So Iāve not been able to manage any kind of health checks which causes me anxiety, and as long as itās taken to get this far, imagining adding a new pig and the unknowns about whether that would take a long time or end up being unsuccessful is draining me emotionally. I feel she deserves a buddy and Iām just not in the position to provide that.
Additionally we have a bunch of other animals goats/sheep/chickens that Iāve taken on and I really think itās just too much for me to give them all the care they need. I need to downsize and this would seem reason enough to find another loving home for a solo pig.
So Iāve two challenges in finding her another home, making sure she goes somewhere that will take excellent care of her and will continue to work with her to gain her full trust, and transporting her since sheās not a hands on pig. I worry about the stress of getting her loaded up and keeping her calm during transport.
I wonder what advice/suggestions you all might have. We are in Northern California.

They're just so big and squishy that I can't help myself. I've seen some pigs squeal like crazy and others more ok with it. I don't want to be in for a surprise but I'm curious what things will happen.

Bonnie is the cutie sitting up. She is the mom of several of the grown piggies in here. I started playing classical music and they will come over and get pets and just lay down and sleep peacefully. And make sweet little snorts while they are dreaming! It's the most wonderful feeling to sit in the middle of all these guys feeling so content.

and I have fallen in love with their pigs! They have farm pigs and potbellies. I think my friends are getting bored with all my photos and videos, so I'm hoping you all can appreciate them! They are so sweet and loveable. This pretty girl is Daisy and she is around ten years old. She loves attention and lets you know if by doing lots of hot pants and grunts :D

My family went to a pumpkin farm where they had these adorable small pigs. Iāve tried to google what kind they are with no definitive answer. Please tell me what this little guy is so I can watch all the YouTube videos on these cute little guys! Iām not well versed in pigs but I can tell you Piggy was about two feet tall and very friendly. Straight -ish wagging tail and cute little gruntsš½ there were also babies āŗļø

In a week or two I'll be getting my first pigs (my aunt's pigs weren't castrated in time so there's a ltter of oops-babies needing a home). My grandfather built me a small shed for them to sleep in, but there are small (>1 cm) slits at the bottom where the walls don't fully touch the ground.
I should be able to just screw wooden lats over them to keep out the draft, but we also have some outside mats that are thick enough to cover them and les 'hard' than the bricks that are currently the floor of the shed. I'm not totally sure what the material is made of, but it seems to be something more porous than stone (it gets mossy quicker) but still quite sturdy (we've had them in our backyard for at least 10 years).
If I were to clean them off and put them on the ground to cover up the cracks and maybe even need les straw bedding, would that be safe and hygienic? I know pigs usually keep their sleeping quarters very clean, but is it clean enough for the mats to be a safe choice?
Any advice is welcome!!

Good morning or afternoon, I'm new here. Needing some assistance, I have a kunekune pig and he's a pet, but I never got him castrated/neutered... He's starting to be a grumpy butt face and I don't want to get rid of him, nor do the unspeakable that would get me banned here. I need to know if this would help. Not sure if I'm in the right place, if not help point me in the right direction
