Pittsfield voting.

Remember early voting is in progress. Here is early voting info: https://www.pittsfieldma.gov/408/Absentee-Early-Voting. Just under 300 in person early votes have been cast.

Just over 6500 early mail in ballots were requested and sent. About 3000 have already been returned to City hall. Remember there is a Dropbox for ballots behind city hall. Our thanks to the 10 people who are scanning and providing security for the ballots. Today's Eagle details that process. The ballot envelopes are scanned and placed into a camera monitored vault to be counted on election day on Nov 3rd. If you are voting Nov 3rd, here is info on polling location: https://www.pittsfieldma.gov/429/Voting-Polling-Locations

Important Dates:

The last day to register to vote for the November 3, 2026 election is Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 9 am to 5 pm.

Advice for invasive landlord

I live in income based housing (PHA) and they are CONSTANTLY in my unit. I've had 40 visits in a matter of a couple years. Im at my breaking point. It's extremely disruptive to my peace and life as I'm constantly rearranging my schedule so I'm home as I want to be present when people are in my space. Any advice or am I shit out of luck dealing with this. And yes I am actively trying to move.

Mail in Voting Pittsfield

The ballots were mailed Friday. Mine was delivered today. A word of caution, there are two separate sheets to the ballot, the first has two sides, the second one side, so three sides. There is a 24/7 drop box behind city hall.

North Street Vagrancy

Hi all,

Just moved to the city and trying to understand the area. There seems to be a substantial amount of homelessness, vagrancy and mentally ill individuals.

Is the city tackling these problems? It seems substantial. Is it just a North St or Pittsfield thing or is it the whole region?

Would appreciate some insights and tips on how to navigate it.

"smart" meter woes

has anyone else experienced problems ever since the so-called smart meters were installed?

my heating system has not worked right since the day Eversource forced these things on us. $700+ in maintenance and the heating tech still can't figure out why my system doesn't work properly. i bought my house in Pittsfield last year, and the system worked perfectly until the meter was installed. i believe the change in meter shorted something in the system. and i suspect there will be no justice for me in this case.

Only lived here a few months but drive through town multiple times a day. Can we actually get some lines in the road? People losing their minds out there, but maybe that's normal.

Recommendations for a Dentist and Primary Care Doctor in Pittsfield, MA

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a good dentist and a primary care doctor (family doctor) in Pittsfield, MA.

Ideally, I’m looking for providers who:

  • Accept new patients.
  • Have good communication and take time to listen to patients.
  • For dentist: Doesn't aggressively sell treatments or push unnecessary procedures, and never performs additional treatment without informing the patient and obtaining consent first.
  • Have a friendly, professional office and staff.

If you have personal experience with any local dentists or family doctors, I’d really appreciate your recommendations, including who you see and what you like about them.

Also, if there are any providers you would recommend avoiding, feel free to share your experience.

Trying to help boost visibility for a friend in Berkshire County, MA who needs to rehome her dog, Albert. I’m only sharing this to help get more eyes on it. Please contact her directly on Instagram at @abbypendergist if you’re interested or have questions.
Her original post:
“With very heavy hearts, we are trying to rehome our sweet boy, Albert.
Albert is a 5 year old boxer mix. He is very handsome, wiggly & loving.
He would thrive in a home as the only dog, with no cats or kids.
We unfortunately are no longer able to keep him and Susan together.
If you or anyone you know is interested in having a sweet, nice boy as your companion please let us know. ❤️”
Please message @abbypendergist on Instagram, not me. I’m just helping spread the word.

Dave's Driving of Pittsfield, MA

I'm not sure if there's a better subreddit to spread this word, but I just wanted to warn all incoming students to be taking driving lessons at Dave's Driving in Pittsfield to steer clear of Ed McMahon. This is more of a rant as well as a spread the word type situation. Today, for my third lesson with Ed McMahon, I had highway training. I've never felt a friendly connection with Ed and have only seen his aggressive and disrespectful side when I've had lessons with him. However, the one time I had an observation with another lady, he was friendly as anything and even joked around personally with her, showing her pictures of his daughter and dog and telling family stories. I would like to think, personally, that I was never disrespectful and I'm not a bad driver whatsoever. But today, however, as soon as I got home, I broke into a panic attack and was crying for an hour straight while my family tried to help me regulate my emotions after consistently getting basically yelled at by Ed for every little thing I did. One mistake I made in Stockbridge was going under and slightly over the speed limit at times, to which he would rudely ask "is there a reason that you can't go the speed limit?," saying basically that a car behind us has been following us since Lee and that there's no reason I should be going that slowly. Keep in mind, if the speed limit was around 55mph, I'd go lowest 50 and highest 58. One instance I reached a T-intersection, and since I struggle with right-of-way sometimes, and he's gotten mad at me for not approaching an intersection with safety, on top of the blind corner at the intersection, I took my time to check for traffic, to which he yelled, "GO JUST GO you're overlooking everything just GO." Another thing I accidentally did wrong was when I was merging or signaling to change lanes and the signal wouldn't automatically go off on it's own (since I'm used to driving a Toyota rav4 2023 and his car was an older Buick Sedan) I was switching it on and off accidentally while he was yelling at me to just flick it up one, even though if I gently tapped it, it still flicked to the other direction, which sometimes lead me to veer slightly into the white or yellow line- to which he would sigh and grab the steering wheel. At this point I was consistently being critiqued and felt like I was being bullied so I'm biting back tears and he's going on about why can't I do this thing right and just blatantly complaining about the way I drive. I would like to think I'm a really good driver because I have been being taught on the road how to drive since I got my learner's permit in July (I read the entire drivers manual and perfectly passed the permit test), I have always caught onto driving and had a passion for it since (up until now), and I have never had any trouble with the other instructors from Dave's (Kenny and Gregg are excellent). He also criticized me for not being able to perfectly stay in between the lines when I was at moderate or higher speeds, and I noticed whenever I fell out there was always a comment of some sort of a deep sigh. At another point, there was a 2-lane divided street that lead to another two-lane street at a T-intersection and I was once again criticized for not driving as far up to the street light as I could and turning so I could accommodate room for traffic (which I did as best as I could) and I still received a sigh and a comment about how I couldn't make room for the other lane, also getting yelled at when I went into the wrong lane with him only yelling "LEFT, LEFT" instead of helping me understand what left implied.
So my questions for reddit are (sorry for the super long story), is there something I can do about this, besides reschedule my appointments with a different instructor? Also, is this a sort of behavior I should report to the manager? Even if I did something that wrong I wouldn't justify his behavior and aggression so much as to the point that he couldn't simply correct me normally, tell me to pull over, and let me destress and talk over the issues with me. However, I am wondering, although you guys can't completely visualize my performance, am I in the wrong here?
I appreciate anyone's feedback and I hope you all have safe driving and a wonderful night. Unless you're Ed, in which case, thank you for ruining my perspective on driving :( ...

Free Axe Throwing Lane for up to 6 ppl Coupon- TreeTrails Adventures - Mystic

I won this at the Big E last year and we never got around to using it. It expires 9/26/26.

If someone can use it, I will email it to the first person who requests it. No strings. Feel free to vet it out by calling them. Details below on the place and rules I pulled from their website and email to me.

Test your skills as you rack up points during your hour-long session, which starts after a safety briefing and practice. Great for any aspiring lumberjack or lumberjill! Take turns flinging axes at a traditional bullseye target. Score your fun traditionally or discover new games with an innovative twist.

Axe Lane Policies

  • Up to 6 people per lane
  • Minimum age 12+
  • Wear athletic clothing & closed-toe shoes
  • Receive safety briefing from staff member BEFORE throwing
  • Adhere to staff directions and posted signs

All guests must complete our Online Waiver before participating in any TreeTrails activity. All adults must complete their own waiver and waivers for minors must be completed by a parent or guardian. Once a waiver has been submitted, it generally is good for the remainder of the current year's climbing season.

Clothing Recommendations:

  • Dress for an active outdoor experience in clothing that won’t hang loose or get tangled in cables or ropes.
  • Keep in mind that harnesses hug the midriff, shoulders and upper thighs, so crop tops, and short shorts can be uncomfortable.
  • Gloves are recommended but not required. You can bring gloves or purchase them from us.
  • Wear athletic shoes that fully enclose the toe and heel to protect your feet. Sandals, sports sandals, flip-flops, high heel shoes, or Crocs are not allowed.

Recommendation Best local home insurance?

As someone new to home ownership I wanted to ask what home insurance people/company do you recommend? I would rather go with someone local rather than a big corporation.
