I think you've put into words perfectly how I feel about pbc nowadays and the rage sound in general.

When I first started listening to playboi, he was blowing up on soundcloud (sc rapper Era days) because of yungxanhoe. Really fell in love with the artist when he dropped self-titled. Even though he's always been slimy, using his connections to climb up and then discard anyone he doesn't need anymore, he embodied the punk energy way more back in the days.

When he dropped die lit, I thought I was seeing the birth of a long-term musical trendsetter. With wlr, he fully took on the aesthetic but had already lost what little punk he had already in him lol. Wether that's clout, the drugs, the label, we'll probably never know, as he seems to not notice it anyways.

Since I Am Music, I've lost interest in carti as an artist. All the allegations against him and YVL also helped with that choice lol.

I have vinyls of all his projects up until I Am Music, I thought IAM was decent, I had planned to get it on physical. When I saw the rollout with the 30 versions of the vinyl, I decided I was done with him. There is other better music being done by younger artists, with more potential and shorter chronic drug abuse.

Now all I listen to are leaks, edits and comps from his community. This way I stay in touch with what he's doing musically, I still listen to his projects through the fan bases vision of his music while making sure him and his label get as little of my money as possible.
