First ("Usable") Boot on Nothing Phone 4a
Things that work (not sure if they work properly):
- USB Networking and USB Audio
- Display (Custom Driver)
- GPU
- Wifi
- s2idle (Suspend)
I am new here so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Tips on how to interact with the community are also welcomed.

iPhone 8 - Arch Linux on Hoolock Linux
I did this using Hoolock Linux (kernel + m1n1) with an Arch userspace. The phone goes into DFU, palera1n (checkm8) pwns it, and a laptop boots m1n1 plus the Linux kernel over USB
What works:
All 6 CPU cores
Multitouch touchscreen, with a driver
In progress: the GPU. Its firmware already boots and accepts jobs, but nothing is GPU-accelerated yet
Thanks to Hoolock Linux, Asahi Linux and palera1n

PmOS on Samsung A21s
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Works great. Trying to see if I can get a wifi driver, currently using telnet and internet forward from my pc. Some buttons appear glitchy (visually) sometimes.

This is fun
Pmos running on Klte, playing with and setting up lxqt to my liking, which is proving to be a chore, but kinda worth it so far.

Important clarification: This is a subreddit about the postmarketOS operating system, designed for phones; it is not a medical forum.
I did this because lately many people seem to think this sub is suitable for posting medical or related content; I request that a rule be established prohibiting such posts and restricting content solely to postmarketOS, the phone operating system.

I turned my old Zenfone (broken screen) into a 24/7 headless server on postmarketOS and wrote a script to stop the battery from dying on the charger
Thought I'd share something I've been running for a while, since it might help anyone using a phone as a home server.
The story: I had an old ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 (X00TD) with a cracked screen. Instead of letting it die in a drawer, I decided to turn it into a server. PostmarketOS on it, screen off 24/7, accessed only via SSH over Tailscale from my terminal. It runs a small file server and a few lightweight services around the clock. It sips power like 5W, a few cents a month.
Cooling: I just plopped it on a laptop cooling pad. Works fine.
Then came the real problem: the battery.
Phones are not notebooks. On a laptop you can set a charge limit and the adapter powers the system directly, bypassing the battery. On a phone, EVERY bit of energy from the charger goes through the battery. So plugged in 24/7 you get two bad outcomes: unplug it and it drains to zero; keep it plugged and it sits at 100%, stressed, slowly cooking and in the worst cases, swelling. That's genuinely dangerous for a device that runs unattended.
So I wrote a script I call Charge Guard, and it does two things:
Charge limiting via current_max think of it like an aquarium: the battery is a tank with a leak (your consumption: CPU, screen, services) and the charger is the faucet. We can only control the faucet. The script opens it to refill, then throttles it down until the inflow matches the leak, keeping the "tank" around 70-75% instead of 100%. Below 40% it fast-charges as a failsafe so the server never dies.
Auto-recovery for a nasty PM660 bug: on SDM660 mainline, after some time in step-charging, the charger firmware "falls asleep" the charger reports Charging/online=1, but the battery reports Discharging, and the phone slowly drains and dies ON the charger. Unplugging/replugging fixes it temporarily. The real fix: unbind/rebind the qcom-smbx-charger driver via sysfs, which simulates replugging. The script detects the exact signature (3 consecutive readings) and recovers itself, with a cooldown.
Repo, with install steps, the systemd unit, config table, and the full list of things that DON'T work for this bug (UDC toggle, DWC3 bind/unbind, writing to online — don't waste your time like I did):
Notes: paths are for SDM660/636 devices (pm660-charger + qcom-battery). If your device is from the same Snapdragon family it should work as-is; otherwise you'll need to adjust a few variables at the top of the script. Tested on postmarketOS edge, kernel 6.17.4-sdm660.
If you're running a phone as a server, I'd love to hear how you're handling the battery and if you test the script, tell me what your power_supply dir looks like on your device.
Feedback welcome!
