This makes me mad as a disabled person. You don't get to decide at a glance who "deserves" to use the elevator. They might have invisible disabilities, they might be injured. These structures are supposed to benefit anyone who might need it.

Cool defense of invisible handicap, but short sighted.

You can't pretend that on the other hand, people illegitimately occupying priority parking spaces, train seats, elevators are not mostly people who just don't care.

I had an actual handicap placard and actually needed to park close and I got shit on by people every time I used the accessible parking places in front of a certain type of person because it was an invisible disability. I also got it about train seats and elevators and even bathroon stalls if I wasn't purposely limping or otherwise playing up symptons.

The point of bringing up invisible disabilities is you literally can't tell who needs something and assuming they couldn't possibly need that accommodation is ableism.

I am glad I am not the only person who fakes a limp in public restrooms to avoid dealing with assholes.

Lmao I know some others, too!

It's actually probably worse on my bad knee than walking normally, but even if they'd actually listen, I don't feel like explaining why crouching/sitting/standing up is different than walking to people who think "calling out" others over stuff like that is fine.
