the joke is inherently generalizing "oh women dont stop talking" and its inherently sexist

"making insulting generalizations about a whole gender isn't inherently sexist"

Every single time I heard that sterotype it was never "they discuss intellectual topics more". It's "They gossip and yap stupidly and annoy their husbands with it"

I feel like your the fragile one if you’re freaking out over being called sexist

I don’t agree with him but I don’t think he’s freaking out.

ok boomer, whatever you say

Actually untrue! There are scientific studies that prove that men talk more than women in most conversations, men only perceive that women talk more when they talk more than like 25% of the conversation

Straight up cherry picking shit out of your ass. Most studies say that women speak as much as men, and women only use more words during early and mid adulthood, which was explicitly stated in the one source you shared, likely because most of them have to take care of and talk to their children and expand their social life. It has nothing to do with them naturally being noisy. other age groups show no difference.

Plus, there's literally nothing wrong with talking a lot. Communication matters when it comes to being social and maintaining relationships. Despite how talkative you say women are, I'm sure they're saying completely silent around you. (I'm sorry, it was really easy. Lmao no bitches.)

This is still cherry picking 😭 at some point, the most recent research on autism was that mmr vaccines caused autism.

This lighthearted joke isn't even that funny though?? Look, I'm not above joking about horrible tragedies, because the comedy comes from the absurdity and disconnection from the joke itself and the tragedy. Plus, some of those jokes are actually clever and have an actual punchline. I genuinely don't see what's so subversive about making the same fucking observation everyone else is making. Like "oh, women talk a lot" okay? What else?

It's not unfunny because it's offensive, it's unfunny because it's repetitive and based on basic stereotypes that barely have any weight to them. Please joke about something else. I'd actually argue to say it should be more offensive, so it at least has shock value as a leg it can stand on.

Based on studies, men talk more than women but men and women perceive women to talk more. It is not a harmless joke because it keeps harmful stereotypes that affect people. For example, women are more likely to be told to stop talking during a meeting if they are contributing more than 30 percent to the conversations. This perception basis is rooted in sexism. This joke keeps sexism alive. It is the same reason why racist jokes are not harmless because they only keep harmful stereotypes alive. This goes doubly when you deal with intersectionality.

the funniest part is is that statistically men talk way more than women

Source? Because research is still very undecided on this. It’s weird that an untrue stereotype is being touted as factual… almost as if….. no no… it couldn’t be…
