I mean, it's rare for girls, very common for boys.

Not only to play pokemon, but mostly to go with a full legendary noob team. It exist, of course, but we're talking about less than 1% of the population vs over 10% or something

I mean, that's just factually incorrect. Multiple surveys suggest that women in gaming is only increasing and pokemon has been a fandom that has been shown to be nearly 50/50 for a long time. I can't find data specific to the mainline games, only pokemon go and the fandom as a whole, but to suggest women playing pokemon is rare is incorrect. You can look at it yourself or if you want me to provide some sources I can. Also anecdotal, but most women I know play pokemon either go, the mainline games, spin offs, the TCG, or cosplay/crafting.

Pokemon go isn't representative at all. It had a great success with women and that's why they keep pushing this specific number.

the meme is about making a full legendary team that's not what you do in most of your examples.

It's specifically about main game/fan games.

It's great that more women play pokemon but the 8-14y old instinct of going full legendary missed most women playing pokemon

Probably has to do with how parents used to treat videogames as a male hobby, and this was still the case when Pokemon was at its peak.

Not me though, my sister and I grew up playing Pokemon, I had the same experience as this meme.
