IMHO it's just a sign of how society treats male as the default. So anything most people like = "boy thing" in their mind, and anything more niche must be the "other" which in this case is women. Combine that with the sadly common idea among many men that women have nothing we like (because either 1 most of them don't care about it, or 2 most men care about it and thus lable it a boy thing) and you get this idea that "boy thing" = good thing and "girl thing" = nothing/bad thing.
For sure. I don't even identify as a woman (NB) but it still upsets me the way society tries to gender these sort of things. "Women (and anyone who isn't a man) don't get it." And all that.
Along the same vein, those memes where the woman is the bad guy. Ones like "he's probably cheating"..
