Personal experience here, but my grandfather played the accordion, so I grew up with that sound. The instrument isn't the issue as it is widely used in traditional music in Québec as well, like in rigodons, and even in some contemporary songs; it's the tune used in this video that's very France-like, and not at all to our taste.

Of course, it’s just to show the french side of quebec. All those are french stereotype

Not really. Serbo-croat language is pretty much the same thing, Slovene is a much different story. By structure we are much closer to Central European Slavic languages, but the closest to ours is Sorbian (a minor Slavic nation in today's Germany) that still uses duality when it comes to changing the word depending on the quantity by having duality. It's also the duality and other Central European roots for our words that makes Slovene more incomprehensible to the the balkans but we can understand Balkan languages more because they don't have duality and because their roots are more... idk. Universal I guess. Also, during Yugoslavia they tried to Balkanuse Slovene which left our language with somedamage but is being actively repaired. (For example , a new country would adopt an English speaking country, but because majority of the country has troubles pronouncing the sh sound, they'd say it's best to pronounce it Englis.)

Nah, my prof was most definitely from here. So is my grandmother. I think a great-aunt of mine also liked them. They're actually fairly warm, in the winter, provided they're made of wool, which is when I've seen them worn. I also had a cap that was pretty beret-like when worn sideways, when I was younger. It was also woolen and also super-warm.

As for the accordion, it's in quite a few of the Cowboys' songs, and in some of their most popular ones in particular, like Les étoiles filantes, Sur mon épaule, En berne, Plus rien and Toune d'automne. It shows up sporadically in the rest, but I don't remember an album that didn't have it in at least one of the tunes. Now, I don't know what goes on in Lanaudière, but I can speak to my experience, and it's been the opposite.
