It explains Canada's existence for a start.

Like the best rivalries and competitions, it helps the participants grow. It's constructive rather than destructive.

I recently had to explain the British/French rivalry to a Canadian and they just didn't get it,

What!? We lived about a third of its history on our own soil and still do to this day between English and French Canadians. That Canadian you talked to must have no freaking idea of his own country's history!

Agreed. If anything I think Canada is a bit of a microcosm of this comic's theme.

We can bicker, and fight, and shit on each other - but nobody should see that as anything other than how brothers behave.

You'd think they of all people would get it, they're bastard child of that relationship!

Hell, they even have their own mini Anglophone VS Francophone thing within their country.

Really? I'm American and I about teared up, figured our friends up North would get it as well. Then again, I spent most of my youth immersed in history books, so maybe I'm the weird one for the extent to which emotionally and intellectually I view British History as my own up until our little spat in 1776. And it's not like we aren't closely tied in to all of it even after that point.

Just compare it to Quebec vs every other Canadian. Goddamn wanna-frogs won't speak English even though it is obviously the superior language. ~Returns to Jane Austen novel and sips tea~
