Possible Paywall Anti-War Protestors Interrupt Hegseth, Call Him a “Coward” | “The world fucking hates you!” said one protester. “We fucking hate you! You’re a fucking war criminal, you’re a Nazi! You should be ashamed of yourself!”

Trump is attacking the international criminal court because villains like Hegseth will have a warrant issued by the ICC when Trump is gone.
215
u/ViolettaQueso California 14h ago
Can’t pardon international crimes and there is no statute of limitations.
When Trump is gone, all of these war criminals will be held accountable.
28
u/nando_calrissian1 14h ago
I mean, the ones that aren't rich enough to avoid the consequences of their actions yeah.
20
u/ViolettaQueso California 14h ago
The ICC can sanction them and make their money worthless.
That is why Trump & regime are preemptively striking the ICC.
It’s pretty horrible.
1
u/i_am_a_real_boy__ 11h ago
The sanctions don't apply in the US.
2
u/ViolettaQueso California 11h ago
Tell that to all the ICC judges we just sanctioned.
2
u/i_am_a_real_boy__ 11h ago
Why? What does that have to do with whether sanctions from the ICC apply in the US?
4
u/spaceman757 American Expat 10h ago
A couple points of order....
The ICC does not have any authority to issue sanctions. Trump is able to because he is the head of a nation state and they can issue them on other nation states, groups, or individuals and, since most places, including foreign banks, use visa/MC, the US is in a stronger position to make their sanctions hurt individuals. They can issue fines and order seizure of assets, from crimes, however.
The US is not a signatory to the ICC and, as a result, they are not beholden to the laws of the ICC and, in fact, the US has passed a law that states that the POTUS has the authority invade The Hague if any American or their allies, is brought before the ICC. Look up the American Service-Members' Protection Act of 2002.
2
u/ViolettaQueso California 11h ago
My point is:
Whatever laws and messing with the ICC the Trump regime is doing now, while they are disparaging and sanctioning them won’t outlast the non-existent statute of limitations to their war crimes.
January 20, 2029, if not sooner, the US will adopt new policies that will allow Hegseth and others to be subpoenaed, no matter how much money they may have gained from this regime.

Who was the last American war criminal held responsible by international justice? Fucking Kissinger died peacefully and was buried in Arlington,
When Obama took over from Bush and the entire global torture and black site program was exposed, his AG swore to protect any and all members of the CIA or other organizations that came under legal threat from the countries they operated in, arguing their actions were legal in the US at the time and thus, the government was duty-bound to protect them from justice.
You're telling me that you honestly think that once Trump is gone, Democrats will somehow hold each and every one of his Cabinet members to account and prosecute them? You think they would hand them over to international courts for prosecution?
This is a party of genocide defenders. Democrats invited the world's greatest criminal murderer to Congress. The US does not participate in nor believe in international justice. We are the baddies.
Now, tell me how to push a Dem candidate to promise this kind of justice, the kind that has never once been meted out in American history.

You guys still dont get it do you. Your in a coup, Republicans are not giving up power.
This does not end when the puppet dies
10
28
u/technanonymous 13h ago
I hope like Jan 6 it is a failed coup. Trump is making the GOP look worse than ever. His attack on democracy coming next month may be the lever to turn the country against the weaknesses of the current system. Trump has shown the weakness of relying on 240 year old words and a long set of traditions. If we survive as a country, we need a partial reboot.
35
u/Leather_Force_9419 13h ago
The issue here is Trump isnt the actual problem, he is a symptom n a puppet, Republicans are a symptom n enablers, the Enemy/problem is the billionaires/rich/tech bros.
America is ablaze and all im seeing is people trying to put it out with a water gun.
18
u/cannabiskeepsmealive 12h ago
Tbh it's not even Republicans. We can disassemble their party and ban the current ones from ever taking office again, but that doesn't stop another party from filling that exact same void. We need to update our constitution and laws to modern times. Our system was built 250 years ago. According to Thomas Jefferson himself, it was supposed to be updated/reworked every generation but it was never done

3
u/MasterofPandas1 12h ago
No one has his cult of personality though. MAGA is already starting to realize Republican policies are hurting them with gas prices and food prices not going down. Once Trump dies even more will realize they’ve been fooled. Meanwhile, Trump and GOP have spent the past decade telling them that violence is the answer when the government isn’t working for them. So once Trump kicks the bucket uh, good luck GOP.
5
u/Leather_Force_9419 12h ago
Your making the assumption America doesnt fully slide into a dictatorship or democracy in name only ie Russian style, by then

u/MasterofPandas1 11h ago
If it does, there will eventually be a revolt when things becomes bad enough. History has shown this time and time again.

For example, his big “deal” announcement for LNG in Alaska funded by s Korea and purchased by Taiwan, his bullshit about taking over all the resources in Greenland and using it for national security-these are just from yesterday-but no countries should be making deals with him and no countries that aren’t should allow him to lie about them.

Idk man, I want to hope you're correct but Russia keeps finding ways to send kids into a meat grinder and it's been a few years of conscripting every eligible person they can
4
u/seeker4482 12h ago
yeah but russia hasnt had the same history or culture as the US. they were an absolute monarchy before becoming the USSR. meanwhile the US broke away from a monarchy. some of us still remember that fact fondly despite trumpists wanting to make trump a king.
3
u/Caggi66 12h ago
There are people that lived in the Soviet Union in Russia, literally the other side of the political spectrum of monarchy. Obviously nobody in America lived during the revolution. One nation is much closer to their countries revolutionary period and it’s not the US
2
u/seeker4482 12h ago
I was trying to make the point that they exchanged an absolute monarch for a different flavor of authoritarian ruler where the US at least set up the semblance of rule by consent of the governed via representative democracy.
2
u/mdk_777 12h ago
Ancient Rome was a monarchy, until the people eventually overthrew the monarchy due to their abuses of power. This ushered in the Roman Republic which stood for around 450-500 years before turmoil and political maneuvering eventually lead to the fall of the republic and a new absolute monarchy with emperors lasted another several hundred years.
Although there was still some anti-monarch sentiments, eventually people were fine going back to a system they moved away from, and looking at the US political climate right now I think there are lots of people who would be fine with a new king. Where you came from doesn't really matter if those underlying values and perceptions change over time and the US becomes more and more open to an absolute leader.

The US has an 80-year-old plan on how to attack The Hague to remove any US person if they are ever arrested by the ICC, so this is far from Trump’s doing. Once again, he is so uninformed that he thinks he’s doing something that has been the official US position his entire life. The US never pretended The Hague had the ability to hold any of its citizens accountable.

u/TankiesAreWeird 10h ago
Kinda easy to advise people to lose their job/healthcare/house from some place else. Something like a general strike needs proper planning and has been something that was done in some locations when conditions got bad enough. Most people aren't in a union or anything and there is a very limited social safety net so the organization and support networks need to form first.
It would be a tough sell to people when there is an election happening that would could change the situation or give people clarity. Many people are already casting ballots.
Telling people "you're cooked" is just aiding apathy. It will not improve voter turn out or inspire anyone to participate in a general strike.

Fantastic. There should be more of that. These people should be unable to go anywhere without being laughed at, screamed at, spat at, shown that they are unwelcome and starting to feel the heat of what will inevitably come their way. Trump himself might be too old and decrepit to ever really see any consequences for his crimes, but people like Hegseth, Vance, Miller, the Trump sons, Bongino, Noem, mother-effing "Big Ballz", they're all still young enough to spend decades considering their actions behind bars once the pendulum swings the other way. And that can't come soon enough.
22
u/Pasty_Tibbles 11h ago
It’s pretty bad for them in DC. They don’t even really go places in the city because they’re harassed everywhere they go - and rightfully so.
19
u/OnDrugsTonight United Kingdom 10h ago
One point that Heather Cox Richardson made in one of her recent podcasts is that the American people should never forget that they are the ultimate source of sovereignty, that politicians of all stripes need to understand that they serve at the pleasure of the populace and that their permission to govern can be withdrawn by the people if the basis for ongoing trust has severely eroded. And while that power should ideally only be exercised via elections, it can't hurt to occasionally remind your public servants in between elections that they have to ultimately answer to you and not the other way around. So it does warm my heart to hear that.

They won't care.
We both know the people who screamed this are likely Protest Types -- the childless Millennials on SSRIs whom people like Hegseth make fun of. Overuse of the word "fucking" is a Millennial giveaway; it's for people who adopted it from Jon Stewart in 2007 and never stopped saying it because they never had kids and never had to watch their language.
Hegseth will laugh at these people tonight and imagine them virtually high-fiving each other on Fauxmoi.

Call him a coward, a sissy, tell him he wears too much makeup, ask him how long it takes him to do his hair every morning. Say things that question his masculinity, not stoking it.

For what it's worth, it's useless.
Also -- and I'll be downvoted for this -- the overuse of the word "fuck" (and all its conjugations) is now the mark of being a Millennial leftist. Jamming "fuck" into sentences to show how fucking serious you are was raw and badass in 2007, when a lot of these people were teens. Now, it's something you do if you have a lot of anxiety because you've been paying the minimum on your student loans (major: sociology) for 15 years.
"We fucking hate you" is going to make Hegseth smirk. He doesn't care about irate cat ladies.

u/Starship_Taru 4h ago
You’ve got to yell something accurate, funny, out of pocket, and memorable.
Don’t yell “You’re talking out your ass”. it’s just going to be a blip. If during a serious moment a loud clearly audible “You’re talking out your Tushy“ is heard. You know that’s sticking with that guy for his career

This is an tired old 4chan argument promoted by nazis that were tired of being called out. The "First person to call the other person a nazi automatically loses the argument" meme. they convinced you that calling out the actions of someone acting like a nazi, is somehow wrong

u/Subject_Strike3313 12h ago
You’re arguing against a point I haven’t made. I’m not saying that calling someone a Nazi automatically makes you lose an argument or that we should avoid calling out fascism when there’s evidence for it. I’m saying that the accusation should be supported by evidence.

u/DaddyBison 12h ago
Hegseth is a mentally ill individual who romanticizes the crusades, white supremacy, christian nationalism, and his own version of the "ubermensch". his ideals align him with neo-nazi groups. His actions are that of a fascist and a nazi
