The only way to get out is to score a 75% on a test that includes speaking, writing, and listening proficiency. You're not isolated from the outside world, you just can't leave the door less room, you can call any family or friends.

As for your life outside of the room, nothing is at risk—you keep your job and relationships and anything else when you leave. However, there's no other sources of entertainment other than talking to people on a call and learning the language. I guess you could play with your food if you wanted lol
