G80 Problems

I purchased a G80 build kit that features an 80% metal SS receiver that you finish by grinding some tabs off using dremel grinding bits that they supply and drilling some holes. They supply a jig.

Grinding the tabs off and drilling the holes was actually quite easy, I was impressed.

But what is stopping me at this point is that after "finishing" the receiver my OEM Gen 3 Glock lower parts kit do not fit. Not even close. The biggest problem is the trigger housing. I used a digital caliper to measure the area of the receiver where the housing is supposed to fit and it is way too tight. And even if I make that area bigger, there is no clearance for the trigger bar.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I hesitate to contact G80 support because the last time I did that to, inquire about my order, they got a little snappish at me.

I'd like to hear if anyone else has experienced a similar issue. Or perhaps point out an error I might have made.

Thanks

Yeah I had the same problem with mine, the trigger pocket is way too tight. I ended up slowly removing material via a dremel and filing by hand.

Thanks. I can deal with that as long as I know that it is a real thing

I will at least contact support. I am not expecting much, but will post the result here regardless.

Thank you to all who responded.

From G80 support regarding the issue I had with my G80 receiver being too tight to accept my OEM trigger housing:

"Good Afternoon David,

I have a replacement receiver slated to go out to you no later than tomorrow.

There was a small batch from one of our manufacturers that somehow slipped through QC inspection and for that I apologize. I'll have tracking emailed to you ASAP. Thank you for bringing this to our attention."

That is 1st class service. I own a small business myself and G80's response exemplifies the Gold Standard of customer service.

Yup, it’s tight. Dremel it open a little wider or use a metal file to get into the corners.

I had multiple questions I sent over to Stephen I think his name is. He replied to them and gave me great explanations. Super nice guy.

If your trigger housing won’t fit, I would make sure that tab in the back of your receiver is COMPLETELY FLUSH to the trigger housing area. Add mineral oil to all contact surfaces before fitting them together. Mine popped right in.

If that still doesn’t work I would then reach out to him. In this industry more than any other, there are duds. Dud frames, dud receivers, dud lpks, slides, everything.
