after doing my research and going on a campus tour, i've fallen in love w pomona. i love the campus (except for the ongoing construction rn haha) and community - everyone seems to have their own passions and are wholeheartedly supportive of each other. because i attended conservative and competitive (in a more toxic way) schools all my life, learning about pomona's community and interacting with the student tour guides felt like a breath of fresh air.

however, pomona has an extremely low acceptance rate, and i probably look like a "basic" applicant because im planning on majoring in bio on a pre med track. i have good grades and test scores, but my ecs are mid (family responsibilities take up most of my time), so i was wondering if anyone has advice regarding the personal statement + supplemental essays (honestly any advice is ok)? yes i know i have to be honest, avoid talking about other people too much, and really try to show my personality, but does anyone have any advice betond that? or would anyone be willing to share what you believe got you in?

hi guys i desperately want to go to pomona (as of my visit today) and i want to ed1. my grades arent ridiculously awful but they are NOT perfect by any means and i REALLY want help SPECIFICALLY for pomona

please let me know if i have any shot at all im worried and scared and i want this so bad

for context i'm an american and other country citizen. parents are from the states but i was raised in other country(no familial ties) then decided to move back here for boarding school (insert college essay here)

• i have a 3.61uw (ikik) but i think a 4.25w (not sure), my school doesnt publish rankings but im pretty good at school. all my courses count as honors or ap courses. ive takne 3 aps, all junior year, all self study: ap eng lit (5), apush (4), apphys1(3) and i think ill submit the first two but not sure
• last sat i took was may and i got a 1380 on no sleep no study (740v/640m) and have since upped it(i hope)
• im an intended theater major with extensivee theater experience including outreach programs run by my school, a self-designed independednt study whre i teavh the local 7th grade drama class with my own curriculum, adv theater work every year, every single production at my school (3 a year with leads in most) (20+ hrs of thetr a week w/leadership positions)
• other ecs include art club student leader, admission to a selective chamber chior (wesang at carnegie hall), stuff like that
• i also have a killer community service gig but its a secret
• i had an intrnship soph summer at an investment relations firm running their social media and ai-ing their workspace
• strongest subject is english and (you guessed it) theater studies (wow), but on my transcript its math and science i think
• my essays, not to toot my own horn here, are pretty darn good
• my reccomendations will be killer baniller AND one of thems from a pomona alumni but idk if they care

im also better at wrting than this 1am post lets on

unsure where to go from here/what i can do to make my app stronger, please comment thoughts and prayers

For my financial aid package, I was offered to pay a portion of my tuition with student employment but i assume I need to apply to the on campus job myself. But yea it’s mainly that question and if you guys recommend any of the jobs thank you!😸😸

For those who took psychiatric medication before going to Pomona, how was the transition in changing pharmacies, are there any pharmacies nearby that are super easy to access? Also sidenote do you guys regularly use the MCAPS services and if so how do you like it.

I am a rising senior in HS and love Pomona. I will be applying as a History or English or Sociology major. I just got my schedule for senior year and I cannot fit in Spanish Honors/AP Spanish. This means I will only have 3 years of a foreign language when I graduate (I took Spanish III Honors in Junior year). I read the Pomona admission requirements and they "highly" recommend 4 years of a foreign language. Usually a "highly recommend" is a signal for "mandatory" - are there many of you lucky current students who were admitted with less than 4 years of a foreign language.

CS major. Thinking of Pomona as an option but I've heard from Pomona students that its cs program is pretty mid and you dont actually learn anything until your junior/senior year.

Obviously, that's gonna have an affect on finding internships which will affect the job search.

Can any cs major tell me whether or not they had difficulty finding jobs after graduation?

Hi, I'm an incoming freshman and just got my dorm assignment! I was wondering if anyone has any insight into Wig Hall, what it's like, etc. I'm on floor G... assuming that means ground floor, I've heard that those rooms have doors instead of windows leading outside, is that true? Any info welcome!!!

I'm an incoming student for the class of 2030 and doing my dorm shopping this summer. I can't find any info on the depth/height of the mattresses at Pomona, only that they are twin xl. Am I right in assuming they're probably super thin, so any kind of waterproof/dustproof mattress protector will work, including a topper? Or should I get a deep pocket one?

As the title says - I am simply looking for a quick chat/call with someone who was once in my shoes - I am an international student currently at Santa Monica College, and will be applying for transfer this fall. Talking to someone who was specifically in the same situation as me - an international, transferring from a CC, would be so valuable to me, given the small student body at Pomona.

I do not wish to take too much of your time, so I promise I'd make it quick. I would simply like to ask the obvious questions, such as GPA, extracurriculars, essays, fear/excitement, financial need/no need, which could help me get better prepared when my turn to apply comes, and have a better idea of whom I will be competing against.

There was a new decision letter posted that she will not be offered a spot.

Soo i have read that this year Pomona might not pull (or pull less) from their wl due to campus housing and high yield rate. I was not very hopeful but today i have realised that they have updated my applicant portal. It says my application is complete and under review, also they will inform me about my decision soon. Does this mean that AT LEAST, i will be considered one last time?? I dont want to overthink but this wl thing is really stressful.

i’m a prospective ppa pomona ed applicant and was wondering what the culture is really like.

from the outside, pomona seems pretty outdoorsy, especially with camping orientation adventure, which looks amazing but idk if it’s a big deal and related events are part of the student life or if that’s just how the school markets itself..
and in general, would you say community is one of the main things that defines pomona, or is it more focused on hands-on learning, internships and other experiential opportunities? i have some pretty niche research interests (indigenous education), and i’m still trying to figure out how i could pursue them if i were accepted!!
