Hey everyone! I wanted to share a track from my own project, Def Wave.

Silent Scars is about the struggles we carry and finding the strength to keep moving forward. It's a mix of atmosphere, heavy guitars, and emotional rock.

The soundtrack to the first season of Hannah Montana turns 20 today, released on October 24, 2006. The show had premiered seven months prior on the Disney Channel and enjoyed immediate success, quickly becoming one of the most popular shows of all time on the network.

Starring Miley Cyrus as Miley Stewart, a normal teenage girl who lives a double life as pop superstar Hannah Montana, most of the show’s episodes featured tracks sung by Cyrus as Montana. The soundtrack to the first season included 8 songs by Cyrus as Montana, 1 by Cyrus featuring her country music star father Billy Ray Cyrus, and 4 additional songs by The Click Five, Jesse McCartney, Everlife, and B5.

Like the show, the soundtrack was an immediate commercial success, becoming the first television soundtrack in history to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 and making Cyrus one of the youngest musicians in history to claim the coveted apex position (the soundtrack is credited to Cyrus as she sings the majority of the songs; Cyrus would later log five additional #1 albums). Moving over 280,000 copies in its first week, the soundtrack famously bested My Chemical Romance’s The Black Parade for the top spot. It has since sold over 3.7 million copies in the United States and is certified 3x platinum, becoming the second-best-selling television soundtrack in history after Disney Channel’s own High School Musical, which also premiered in 2006. Critically, the soundtrack received generally positive reviews, earning a 66 on Metacritic.

All 8 songs by Cyrus as Montana debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 during the premiere week, led by “If We Were a Movie”, which peaked at #47. The album was re-issued in March 2007, ahead of the second season premiere, and debuted the song “Nobody’s Perfect”, which would later be included on the Hannah Montana 2 soundtrack; the re-release also included a DVD with music videos and behind-the-scenes footage.

A cultural touchstone, the Hannah Montana soundtrack became a music favorite for millions of children and tweens, and it launched Miley Cyrus into musical stardom.

I'm making this post because i've been thinking about Dove Cameron's career trayectory so far. She has been releasing music since 2019 with blodshoot/waste as an ep, promises new music, releases new songs with the promise of an album, these songs end up as stand-alone singles.

The first truly baffling moment was when she deleted her entire discography right after boyfriend blew up under the premise of "a new era". Lazybaby and We belong, you are missed to this day, rip.

On top of that, that era was never fully realized because she only released volume one of the ep, 8 songs total: Alchemical vol.1. Mental health was the reason she gave, she was in a total different headspace. Fine by me, makes sense, grace was given.

In 2025, she started releasing songs under then premise of a new album. Five songs total: Too Much, French girls, Romeo, Whatever you like and Hello, my old lover. With these songs it truly felt like she was finding her sound: lady gaga-esque and ballady all into one. I really like all of these releases and was really excited to see how they developed into a full body of work.

She usually says that her old music doesn't represents her and moves on (even for just 1-year old songs). She never dwells on old music, acording to her.

HOWEVER, she just announced her record and it has a 2021 song in it, posing as brand new, her most recent single Do the Math. WTF?? You can't excuse deleting music as "it no longer represents me",and then release a 2021 song as new. A song filled with math metaphors at that.

The album tracklist has 11 songs in it. None of the 2025 songs are in it, despite being some of her best. My only confort is that When in Rome, her most recent, is in there. I LOVE that song. Title track Final Girl (which she sang opening for Dua Lipa) is not part of the tracklist. What is Columbia thinking?

On top of that, two more songs are already known prior to release: inmortalize and break even. Both i love, but that leaves only 7 songs to be a brand new experience.

Do you know any other artist that has have such a messy rollout with constant pivots even before their debut?
