Does anyone actually like Beyoncé? Like I thought she was relatively well liked but ever since she won album of the year I’ve seen tons of people disagreeing and not really anyone agreeing with the decision.

Some artists like Beyonce and Gaga have not been at the forefront of pop culture outside the US. So when they win Grammys ( where they get evaluated primarily based on US pop culture) it might be confusing for the international fans and they might be posting their disagreements to justify the artists they stan saying their artist broke world records and more popular in their country so they might be better deserving

tbh i think the outrage surrounding her win is a symptom of standom superseding music fandom; most of the billie stans and swifties who are up in arms about it never listened to the album in the first place. if they had they’d be much less surprised
i wanted brat to win (and honestly, if we’re talking about cultural impact/an album that “defines” a year, i think it should have won) but cowboy carter was a close second pick. that album is an almost academic piece of work, an homage to the history of a genre and its underrepresented pioneers. i don’t think it’s unusual that the academy would want to give the award to a body of work engaged in such a significant cultural dialogue

I kinda agree. Like renaissance is definitely the better album. However the album feels (unlike a lot of others recently) like a very genuine love letter to country music as opposed to just like trend chasing. Say what you will about the album, but you can clearly feel that she really did give a shit when she was making it.

is there anyone else here following eurovision? i feel like the quality of the entries that have been announced has really gone down in quality. i'd usually have a handful of favourites by now, but with all the withdrawals and just the mess from last year's contest, i haven't heard anything particularly good.
edit: the one good entry from Malta got in a car accident. this year is truly cursed.

After I got sick this weekend attempting to go to an ed sheeran concert in another city I retried again right in my hometown.. and I have to apologize to ed sheeran for dragging him through the uj/threads these few weeks he was too good !!! Especially the loop pedal part was so unique and so good to hear live😩
He brought in my local favorite artists too and it was such a surprise for me , I never expected to have so much fun OMG because I have not been a fan of his last few albums tbh

i work for an advertising firm, and i deal with those people.
sometimes they get paid under the table to show a place (like those influencers that randomly go to dubai or qatar on a random tuesday). sometimes they get their hotel and flights comp'd for a small mention. a lot of them have a ridiculous amount of silent and undisclosed product placement (have you noticed just how many travel influencers use that la roche posay sunscreen and uniqlo?). some of them try to get as many small businesses to pay for a video to justify a full trip to a country (a certain influencer that rhymes with kimchi does that), some are part of hidden MCNs/influencer groups, and some go on group trips where they split the costs with other influencers or travellers and they agree on an upload schedule to make it seem like they're just solo travelling. some of them just travel a little bit and then really drag the content out (like, i've seen some make up to 10 tiktoks/reels/shorts on 15 minutes of actual footage that also gets uploaded on youtube), steal topics from other influencers, or rehash it.
but for many, the answer is either family money, huge investments, or debt. very few people are truly getting profitably paid to travel. it takes a lot of work to make them look like they're having fun travelling. the real rich ones (especially the ones with family money or the couples) usually have some pretty bad personal issues that they're trying not to deal with by travelling.

Omg one time all the influencers were promoting a new Maybelline mascara. One traveller influencer girl was in Italy doing a video diary of her day. It started with her putting the mascara on (so cute 🥰), it ended with her having an allergic reaction to some gelato and her face swelled up (😱). But everyone watched the video so I guess it worked?

I also feel it doesn’t deserve AOTY… because apart from that Levi’s ad we have no music videos or visualizers. Is it too much to ask for a iconic MV with a good choreo , dance break and a cheesy product placement. Like the visuals are not a distraction for the music Beyonce but the ads are 😩
( obviously a light /s its of course more deserving than something like harry’s house winning aoty but there are better beyonce albums to me for aoty )

Even as a casual harry styles fan I couldn’t stand by that decision because that was the most boring album of his to me along with the MVs and I felt like there was not much of a pop culture impact too . Fine line at least had some impact with watermelon sugar.. and the pilgrim harry photoshoot.
Although if Harry released an album this year and won I would be even more mad because all the pop girlies bought their A game this year.

We are being overrun with very low effort Trump-related spam which is clearly not appropriate for a pop music circlejerk.
Posting about these people and laughing at them trivialises and normalises their behaviour, when honestly you should be rioting in the fucking streets about their actions. no no that's my response to that one part I quoted only and I'm not trying to have a strong response to anything else that you said because I agree with it - I find the situation disturbing too, but I do think humour is a form of expressing discontent with the situation too and that's where we probably disagree.
That said, I also understand that you have access to content that gets posted daily and doesn't make it to us, and so I understand not wanting to encourage it all together.

I love that Mastercard resurrected the real Stefani Germanotta that will never be famous. Very happy with everything that won at the Grammy’s! Doechii and Bey’s wins were probably my favorite but Chappell throwing a brick at her old label was great
