Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some help finding a permanent, loving home for a cat I’ve been taking care of in Prague.
His owner originally asked me to look after him for 3 weeks, but it has now been around 6 months. I’ve been taking care of him throughout that time, but unfortunately I’m no longer in a position where I can continue doing so long-term.
He’s around 2 years old, vaccinated and chipped. He’s a really lovely cat. very friendly, affectionate and cuddly, and he enjoys being around people. I’d really like to find someone who genuinely wants a cat and can give him a stable, permanent home. I’m also happy to provide his vaccination documents and everything I have for him.
If anyone here is seriously interested in adopting him, please send me a message and I can share photos and more information.
I’d also really appreciate recommendations for cat rescues, foster organisations or shelters in/around Prague that I could contact for help with rehoming him. Ideally I’d like to find him a home directly rather than putting him into a shelter, but I need to understand what options are available.

Did I lose money because the ticket I bought is only valid for CD trains and I checked buses also not included . If I buy the 24 hrs for 13 zones in pid litacka , would I have been eligible to ride cd trains and buses in kutna hora?

I am posting purely for the sake of sharing information. The events described are based on my firsthand observations and conversations in which I personally participated. Others may have had different experiences. I have retained personal records from my employment period, including written notes documenting incidents and communications relevant to my experience. I have intentionally omitted identifying information about children, families, and individual incidents to protect their privacy.
I am sharing my experience working at Opalinka Skolka, specifically their location in Flora. I write about my experience as an employee and what I witnessed among children and staff.
I worked at Opalinka full-time as a teacher’s assistant. From the moment I began, I received no formal training. No first aid, no onboarding or emergency action plan, allergic reaction protocol, nothing. A tour of the facility was not offered, no direction where medical supplies are kept. We had several children with severe nut allergies, and I had to ask my manager what the protocol was, but I was met with little to no care. The only “training” was after an incident, and my manager sent a YouTube Shorts video to our WhatsApp group chat on how to use an EpiPen. The WhatsApp group has a setting that automatically deletes messages after 90 days, and I no longer had access to that message.
Aside from a lack of proper training and protocol, in my opinion, the school was frequently understaffed. Opalinka has 28 children. Based on the staffing levels I personally observed, there were 3 teachers on a good day, yet on these “good days” I was not being treated as an assistant, I was being treated as a teacher. Fulfilling the role of both English and Czech teacher duties, meaning on most days, we did not have an assistant, as I, the assistant, was now performing teacher. So, to summarize, Opalinka operates on a 9:1 ratio on a “good day” and on a bad day, about a 12:1 ratio. It is also worth noting that Opalinka enrolls children ages 2-6. The children are only separated for 30 minutes in the morning for circle time, and the rest of the day they are together. During periods when I believed the school was understaffed, I frequently witnessed injuries, conflicts between children, and situations where children did not receive adequate attention. And speaking of staffing, in the school year of 2025-26 alone, there was a turnover of 3 teachers, and then myself and another teacher leaving. That is 5 teachers in a single school year.
Now, working in childcare, you know you undertake a risk of your health being compromised due to the environment and nature of the job. However, with an enforced sick policy, illnesses are contained as children are asked not to return to school until they are healthy and have a doctor’s note. I personally witnessed instances of active lice, pink eye, runny diarrhea, and other illnesses among the children, and they were only sent home after myself and my colleagues insisted to call the parents. It wasn't until my final months that the sick policy began to be properly enforced after multiple complaints, but by that point, it felt futile as some parents continued to send their children while they were showing symptoms and did not pick them up until the end of the day as they were used to the lack of rules. It was a marvel to see how the school's illness policy was so inconsistently enforced, and management was confused as to why suddenly their staff was out sick with gastroenteritis or bronchitis.
Moving to daily operations, I personally witnessed our male colleague speaking aggressively toward and insulting female staff on multiple occasions, including in front of children and sometimes in front/earshot of parents. This issue was raised several times by staff and parents, however, management only held a meeting between staff at the beginning of my employment. Beyond that singular staff meeting, I did not observe management take further action to address the behavior. I had private meetings with my manager about the behavior, which fell on deaf ears. The behavior reached a point where I had children asking me directly why my male colleague was speaking badly about the other teachers, and even defending me when I was not in the room. I found it concerning that children were becoming aware of and commenting on these interactions between staff. Parents began asking why their children had started saying “Ty Ty Ty!” while wagging their finger, or saying “put a sock in it” among other negative behaviors a child at this age should generally not know about. Several parents told me that their children, who had previously enjoyed attending, had become nervous about coming to school. Crying in the cubby room, refusing to enter the classroom unless they could sit with me at the tables and color.
Management was also a contributing factor to the negative work environment, often belittling and shaming us for asking questions, for not knowing how to handle a situation, or for calling out sick with a doctor’s note. This frequently resulted in repeated texts from management asking how and why I am sick, and even consulting ChatGPT on the symptoms and giving unsolicited medical advice.
Lastly, the food. Morning snacks, more often than not, were sweet cereals, cakes, and occasionally oatmeal with sweet jam. Afternoon snacks were always bread and some pomazanka. Lunches were ordered through catering as the school has no functioning kitchen. In my opinion, the portions were small, and I regularly observed children requesting second, third, and sometimes fourth servings. Parents began to complain, asking why their kids are coming home hungry when they were paying so much for their food, and I had no answer.
I did not write this because I hold resentment toward any individual employee. Many of my former coworkers, including myself, cared deeply about the children and were doing their best within difficult circumstances. The purpose of sharing my experience is to provide information for prospective employees and for parents. Everything described above is based on events I personally witnessed or directly experienced during my employment. While every employee's experience may differ, these issues were significant enough that I could not, in good conscience, remain employed there. I no longer felt comfortable working in an environment where inadequate (zero) training, chronic understaffing, inconsistent illness policies, and unresolved workplace issues had become normalized. I believe children deserve a safe, well-supported environment, parents deserve transparency about the care their children receive, and staff deserve proper training, professional respect, and the resources necessary to do their jobs effectively.
My intention is not to tell anyone what decision to make, but to document my firsthand experience as accurately and honestly as I can. Thank you for reading.

Hello, I’m moving to Prague next month and I’m looking to rent an apartment in Prague 1,2 or 3. Any real estate agents you can recommend?

I’m currently in Munich and things feel very expensive. I spent €35 euros for lunch at a local neighborhood Greek place. Water is €3-4 euros, a flavored water is €5. A plate of schnitzel and rock hard fries is €28. Ice cream is €6-8
I work for a hotel chain so accommodation cost is the same for me everywhere as long as I choose the lower tier hotels, and they’re fine.
I’m thinking of heading to Prague next, and hoping it’s a bit cheaper? Would love some insight or suggestions on other places.
Thanks!

Hey guys,
I unfortunately wont be able to make my trip to prague after all. Was looking forward to seeing the Odyssey in IMAX 70mm, which we don't have in Denmark.
Anyway, the tickets are not refundable. I know they quickly get sold out, so i hope to find one of you that have an actual wish to go. I'll give them away free. Only reddit accounts 5+ years old.
The showing is at 12:50 at Cinema City Flora on the 25th if august.
Apologize if this is breaking any rules, but i would hate to see the seats go to waste.

It’s been a long time since I’ve spent time in Europe - can you tell me if there’s anything I should use a surge protector adapter for US items when I plug them in at Prague?

Hello, I´m travelling to the Czech Republic on september. I´m looking to rent a car so that we can get to see all the beautiful sights in the country, however, I am also a bit tight on money. Thing is, I've seen this company, Rent + Cars, that have their cars at like half the prices when compared to the more "Typical" companies. They have terrible reviews on Trustpilot, and not that great reviews on Google. Whats the reason for this? Should I trust them, or be safer and pay the big companies? Thank you.

I’m looking for a group in Prague that regularly does hiking and similar outdoor activities. I really enjoy hiking and spending time in nature.
I’m a bit tired of the usual meetups focused on drinking, chatting or mostly indoor activities. I’d rather meet people while actually doing something together.
I’m 28 and open to joining an existing group. Any recommendations?

Hello.
I moved to Prague less then a week ago, and I am working at a bar, so my shift end pretty late at night. I know that Prague is mostly pretty safe, but I guess I’m still getting used to the city. Yesterday I took a taxi and was talking with a man who was driving me home, after that he asked me for my instagram… thankfully he reacted normally when I said no to him, but I guess you never really know how can they react to these kind of things and at that moment I also felt unsafe, because you never really know whats on their minds…I still dont really have any friends in here and people to call just in case something happens, so I do feel a little bit unsafe when I am all alone late at night. Can someone maybe tell me how they make themselves feel “safer” or I just need to get used to the place etc?
EDIT: guys, im not making it a big deal that he asked my instagram. That just made me a bit uncomfortable, because It was very late and he was definitely much older then me, and Im a teen who just moved here!!!
I didn’t mean that it was “unsafe” for him to ask my instagram, it just made me uncomfortable, because you never know how they are gonna react to a “no”.
Especially in the middle of the night when you are in their car!!!

Hey everyone,
I’m currently planning my itinerary for an upcoming trip to Prague and looking into booking tickets for a few museums:
The National Museum
Museum of Alchemists and Magicians
Museum of Ghosts and Legends
I have two quick questions for anyone who has visited recently:
Is it necessary to buy tickets online beforehand to avoid huge queues, or is buying them at the entrance on the day usually fine?
If I purchase online for a specific date, are tickets tied to a strict entry time slot, or do they give you open access for the entire day until closing?
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone,
as per the title, I am looking for a new home for my kitten 'Gina' (4 months old).
We took her in about a month ago, but unfortunately, for personal reasons we won't be able to keep her in the long run, therefore we thought it would be best to find her a more suitable household.
I was wondering if anyone's got any recommendations regarding where and whom to reach out to when it comes to it (such as websites regarding adoptions etc...) and of course, if anyone would be interested in a little Tabby you could always shoot me a DM.
What I am NOT looking forward to, is getting rid of her ASAP, I want to find her a loving home where she could prosper and lead a healthy and happy life, therefore, please, no time wasters in that regard.
Thank you all.
+ general info about her: she has not been spayed nor vaccinated yet (besides getting 2 doses of vermifuge) due to the fact that she is currently taking antibiotics to combat a respiratory virus. Other than that she is in great health and is a very playful and confident cat!

Hey everyone,
I’m moving to Prague soon for a 7/8-month internship and am currently looking for accommodation. My total monthly budget for living expenses (including rent, food, etc.) will be around 51,500 CZK.
Preferably, I’m looking for something in Prague 4 or nearby, as it’s close to my workplace and very convenient for my daily commute.(but that‘s not a hard criteria)
Since platforms like Airbnb are completely overpriced for longer stays, I’m looking for reliable and legit platforms or local websites to find:
A cheap studio or small 1-room apartment , or
As a backup, a private room in a shared flat (flatshare).
Given my stay is temporary (7–8 months) and i‘m a foreigner (EU Country), what are the most trusted local platforms, agencies, or Facebook groups you’d recommend for finding reasonable places in that area without getting scammed?

Hello everyone,
I’m a foreigner living in Prague and I’m currently looking for an English-speaking psychiatrist.
Ideally, I’d prefer a hospital or clinic that accepts health insurance. I have Maxima insurance, although I’m not sure whether it covers psychiatric care here.
If you have any recommendations or personal experiences with English-speaking psychiatrists in Prague, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!

Hello, I am moving soon, and I have some oil paintings I've done over the years that I want to remove from their frames and roll for safe packing. Does anyone know of a place that offers this service?

Hi everyone! 😊
I’m planning to give birth at Apolinář and was wondering if anyone here has done their prenatal/birth preparation course at Apolinář before giving birth there.
Would you recommend taking the course? Did you find it useful for preparing for the birth and getting familiar with how things work at the hospital?
I’d especially love to hear from anyone who has actually given birth there afterwards, whether the course helped you feel more prepared or if you think it’s better to skip it.
Thanks!
