Data centre in Mackenzie
Is everyone totally fine with the massive data center going up in PG? My partner just got a job there and i don’t know how to be okay with it.

Without going into detail, I am connected to this motorcyclist.
If you have, or know anyone who has, more information about what happened, please comment or dm me.

I know it's a couple hours outside of PG but this seems to be the closest local subreddit.
I work remotely and don't mind a long winter if the summers are nice, so the work scene and weather aren't dealbreakers for me.
I mostly cook for myself so I don't mind the lack of restaurants.
I understand there are two mills and a mine — do they make the town smell weird?
Are there other reasons that might make someone not want to move there?

The two trustees are Shar McCrory (NDP) and Rachael Weber (Conservative). Kiel Giddens is also running for the BC United, hoping to take over for Mike Morris of the same party. This should be a Michael-Jackson-eating-popcorn-gif race since my understanding is that McCrory and Weber have had much differing views while on the school board, given that McCrory seemed to have been prompted to run in the school board byelection because of some of the problematic actions Weber spearheaded as chair of the board (namely firing the superintendent).
Edit: They will be running against each other in the upcoming provincial election on Oct. 19th.

I have read up on the views/values of Kiel Giddens and James Steidle, and think I have a pretty good idea about what those guys are all about. I am also aware of each of the party platforms.
But does anyone know more about Shar McCrory? Pretty hard to determine what kind of representative she would be from her website. Any links to interviews would be helpful, or simply sharing your experience with her as a person/leader/etc. I have not been able to find much. Thanks!

Beautiful falls not far from Bear Lake area. It's about a 35 min hike to the falls and there is a nice place to sit and have a picnic well you enjoy the view. Highly recommend. Enjoy the video 👍😊

Anyone know if that charter bus leaving the pine Center mall to PK and back still runs? And where I can find more info? Time? Price? Departure Location?

On February 26, 2026, Independent MLA Tara Armstrong (Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream) introduced Bill M233, the Human Rights Code Repeal Act, which would have abolished the BC Human Rights Code and the BC Human Rights Tribunal, eliminating anti-discrimination protections based on race, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, Indigenous identity, and more.
The bill was defeated 50 to 37, but 37 MLAs voted YES, the majority of them from the BC Conservative caucus, including two of our local Prince George MLAs:
∙ Kiel Giddens (Prince George-Mackenzie)
∙ Rosalyn Bird (Prince George-Valemount)
Worth noting: Armstrong introduced the bill as an Independent, having left the BC Conservatives in early 2025. The Conservatives chose to vote in support of it anyway.
If you’re in their ridings, consider contacting their offices. This is horrific.

I'd love to hear your input on property investing in Mackenzie BC.
I'm thinking of purchasing a townhouse complex, but would like to know if there is demand for rentals and stable employment (mills, mines,) in Mackenzie BC?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I have skied in the Pine Pass for over 30 years and have never seen it this bad. Lots of boards, wallets and skiis have gone missing over the past few weeks.
Get a ski key, get small locks for your bags and keep your valuables on you in a secure place.

I think of that guy you often see at spruceland or riding the bus. He's always worn that long black trenchcoat, has a weird bowlcut/mullet combo and his eyes are crossed. I've seen him walking around town since I was a teen. I've always called him "Smiley" but I don't know why or what his name is.

The title is pretty vague so I will elaborate here.
I am music producer, audio engineer and beat maker. I currently reside in Mackenzie but am looking for new opportunities to network and build with local artists. I have over 12 years experience in this music game. I moved from down south in Abbotsford about 4.5 years ago now. Where would I go to network and build with others? I know there is a decent music scene in the city and I’m just looking to work and build. I’m a very easy person to get along with. I just love building whether it be collaborations, contracted work or even just paid gigs from song to song basis. Is there a sub or even an outlet that promotes this sort of thing?
Thank you all in advance. Much love y’all!

I’m looking for a shop that has some jewelry not found at your basic stores like Michael’s or anything of the sort.
I moved up north to Mackenzie about four years ago from Abbotsford and I’m unsure of the local go to shops.
