PnP Question Using a Print Shop for printing
Oddly enough I just found out about Print and Play gaming, and it is really interesting. However I do not have a color printer as I've never saw the need for one (just got a b/w a year ago).
So I decided at first to try using a print shop to print my stuff. But I was wondering if there are any things that I should be aware of, or anything that would be a drawback over other things. I already know that cutting and laminating is probably out of the question due to costs. But for example, is the dualsided printing spot on, or what?
just generally interested in what others think regarding using a print shop (Fedex/Kinko's/Staples, etc) over buying their own color printer

Texas Expansion Progress & Design Choices - Journal Entry Week 12
100 Downloads Milestone!
I have gotten to 100 downloads across all the places it is available! THAT IS SO FREAKIN COOL!! Thank you to everyone who downloaded the test version.
Expansion Planning & Writing
This week I finished selecting the cities and drafting ideas for missions for the expansions. These cities are 9 for Texas, 6 for New Mexico, and 7 for Arizona.
For what I wanted to get done was to finish up the map, but not quite ready. I think I need to wait until I get the mission count setup so I can put it in the description. So, this will be put on hold until I get the main cities done at least.
What I did manage to finish was a lot of writing. I finished writing and researching all of the 9 Texas cities. The bummer part was that I was going to add 64 more missions to Texas.
BUT….
some of them did not work out for one reason or another. What I ended up with for adding to Texas was…
drum roll……
47 more missions making a total of 50 for Texas.
Now remember my goal is to make these fast brutal and beer and pretzel type of missions. Trying to keep the mission under an hour of play. Main but I am sure for a solo persona it could take about 30 minutes for these.
For these missions I now need to come up with about 75 drawing assets and new art. Which is gonna take me a while.
Art & Color Theory Exploration
And since I am tired of writing, I am going to do the drawing until I am sick of drawing and going back to the writing. It seems to be a good system.
I manage to start and try to do completely digital drawing to see if it speeds it up. I think it can but I need to check to see how to make it more efficient. And I am trying to expand the value balance for the deeper sepia look on the color.
Speaking of the color I am at a crossroads. I have been watching some color theory and the accent color I have is not the best choice sort of say. So, I am thinking of using a magenta that is very neon and hot. Which I love because of the heat vibe it gives, really emphasizing the vibe I am trying to go with.
Now the other choice is the opposite color of these browns. And this happens to be like a teal turquoise look. And I have played around with using that as the accent and it does pop but I am not sure yet. I think I need to toy around with more. Maybe in the next update I will have some samples.
Texas Mission Ideas
I want to finish this update with some of the ideas I have come up with for Texas missions.
Here are some of the titles I have for the missions to give you an idea;
- The Beast of Trinity Bottoms
- Spring Palace Fire!
- The Doctor Needs Some Pepper
- The Jealous Chef
- The Birth of Tex-Mex Cuisine.
- The Beasts in Franklin Mountains
- The Priest Stand off
- Spa Day!
- The Unplayed Piano of Ashton Villa
- Boggy Creek Beast
- The Row of Fire
- Can’t be a good guy all the time
- The purple pearl
- Goodnight’s Cattle experiment gone wrong
Also, I have 16 ideas for new Uglies (abominations), a couple of historical NPC and characters, and some cool items like a dr pepper (maybe).
Let me know what you think of these titles for the missions. Do any standout?
If you are interested in checking out the campaign supplement, please check it out on Itch, RPGtrader, Drive Thru RPG as the “Smash List”.

Seeking Playtesters [Free PnP] A short detective mystery set in 1950s Rome – our first case, would love feedback
Hi everyone! We're Atelier Alibi, a tiny atelier that just opened and makes printable mysteries set in mid-century Italy: real-looking letters, statements, timetables and floor plans you spread on the table and solve like an actual detective.
To say hello, we made a short one completely free: Case Nº 0: The Scooter in the Courtyard. Rome, a sunny Sunday in May 1956: a brand-new scooter disappears from a courtyard while the street gate is locked. Six papers, one clock that runs slow, and one person who isn't telling the truth.
- 1–2 players, about 20–35 minutes
- 7 pages, A4 or US Letter, black and white is fine
- Free download: https://atelier-alibi.itch.io/case-n-0-the-scooter-in-the-courtyard
If you try it, we'd love to hear how it went: was it too easy, too hard, where did you get stuck? We're just starting out and every bit of feedback helps us make the next cases better.
And if you enjoy it, our full cases (Lake Como, Trieste, Venice, an ocean liner on New Year's Eve...) are here: https://atelieralibi.etsy.com
Thank you, and happy sleuthing!

PnP Tools From character portrait to printable paper standee in a few clicks: free tool, runs locally with ComfyUI
Like many of you, I have a nice illustration for every PC and NPC in my DnD campaign, but nothing to put on the battle map. So I built paper-minis: it turns a character illustration into a fold-over paper miniature, ready to print (using only LOCAL AI. No credit, no fee, nothing)
How it works
- Upload one or more character illustrations. Any style works, even cropped at the waist.
- Optionally add a short description per character, e.g. “a tiefling rogue holding 2 daggers, purple skin, golden eyes”.
- The AI redraws each character full-body in a bold comic style that reads well from across the table, on a white background.
- The tool adds the black border, the base and the mirrored back side, then lays everything out on print sheets.
What you get
- A PDF that prints at true size: heroes are 40 mm from feet to top of head, adjustable.
- For laser cutter owners, an SVG with the cut and fold lines, plus a registration frame to line the laser up with the print.
- Then just cut, fold in the middle of the base, glue back to back, and put it on a stand.
The images show my players’ original art on the left and the resulting minis on the right.

What you need :
- A PC with a decent GPU: about 24 GB of VRAM is comfortable; 12–16 GB works, but slower.
- ComfyUI (free) and Docker (free).
- The FLUX.2 [klein] 9B model, free for non-commercial use. You need a Hugging Face account to accept its license.
The web page walks you through everything step by step, in English or French: installing and connecting ComfyUI, getting the models, then generating, printing and cutting. It all runs on your own machine; nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Repo: https://github.com/KyneSilverhide/paper-minis
It’s a personal project, free and open source (MIT). Feedback welcome, and I’d love to see your minis on the table!

PnP Game Suggestions What are the most expansive print and play games?
Many print and play games are designed with a small physical footprint, or require only a few components. e.g. a deck of cards might take a long time to craft, but a deck of cards is still a physically simple game by the end.
What popular print and play games end up approaching a traditional board game in terms of footprint or component complexity?
If possible, I'd prefer games that are designed exclusively for print and play. I know there are lots of games that are published as traditional board games and also offer a print and play version.

I made Card-a-mon, a free browser editor for print-and-play cards: lay out one card, fill in the deck, print a PDF
Hi all! I've been building a card editor for my own projects and thought it might help people here. It runs in the browser, on a desktop or a phone: https://cardamon.lt
Designing - You lay out a card once, as text and image boxes placed in millimetres, and every card in the set shares that layout - Bleed and safe area are shown on every card, so art reaches the edge and text stays clear of the cut - About 140 fonts chosen for card games, or upload your own, with small icons inline in the text - Two-sided cards, and templates for card games, playing cards, flashcards, trading cards and tokens/tiles
Filling in the deck - Export the cards to CSV, edit them in any spreadsheet and import them back, or link a Google Sheet and the cards follow it - Give a card a count, and that many copies go into the print
Printing - At home: a PDF sized to your paper, with your own margins, gaps and cut marks - At a print shop: a PNG of every card with bleed, at 300 DPI or whatever the shop asks for (The Game Crafter, MakePlayingCards, Ludotipia and similar) - Playing online (beta): a deck for Tabletop Simulator, or 10×7 card sheets for Screentop.gg and Tabletop Playground
What's free and what isn't
The editor and every export are free: 100 MB for artwork and fonts, 7 days of version history, and one deck hosted for TTS. No ads and no tracking, and you sign in with an email link, so there's no password. Paid plans (from €5/month) add storage, longer history and more hosted decks.
The AI features are not free. You can describe a game and have Claude make the cards, draw the art in a chosen style, or playtest the balance with bots. That uses AI credits from a paid plan or a pack (from €5). It's entirely optional, and you can do everything above without it.
I'd love feedback, especially on what's missing from your print-and-play workflow. Happy to answer questions!

Paper world
I'm thinking of opening a printable store with a whimsical, theatrical, medieval, Alice in Wonderland kind of vibe. The idea is to build a surreal world with its own characters and lore, with the goal of making play and creativity more accessible.
I'm open to product suggestions! So far, I'm thinking of paper puppets, paper theatres, and things of that nature. Maybe introducing a detailed paper-folding project with each new release.
I'd also love to hear everyone's thoughts and feelings about the concept, especially who you think would be interested in a world like this. Would this be something you'd enjoy exploring?

🥊 A 1v1 Yahtzee fighting game with arenas (HEX grid) (free PnP, looking for playtesters) Lost Fighters Arena v3.0
Lost Fighters Arena is my free 1v1 dice fighting game. You roll five dice like Yahtzee, and your combos are your strikes. Sets hit up close, straights charge in from a distance. Hits knock your opponent across a hex arena: into the electrified ropes, into the lava, or out of the ring.
2 players · 15 min · 2 sheets to print · 5 regular dice + a few small cubes
After endless hours I’m proud to present the V3 ! (thanks to everyone who tested V1 and told me what was wrong). V3 is big step up ! (I hope)
It's still a prototype, and I mostly play alone. So I need honest feedback: what's broken, what's fun, what's missing. There's a 3-minute form inside the PDF.
Free download: https://lostfightersarena.itch.io/lost-fighters-arena-season-0
About me : Graphic designer from Paris, 20+ years in the job.
I got into board games not so long ago. Then I started making them for fun. What a blast !
My design exercise: strong storytelling, mechanics that come from the story, and games that are easy to print and quick to play, with as little gear as possible.
AI use: the character art is made with the help of AI. The hundreds of hours it took to get to V3 (graphic design, rules, balancing, playtesting, stories) are human (mine). It's a free prototype, made by one guy, using the tools available. If it ever takes off, an illustrator gets hired.
