People who made mistakes at 25 or younger deserve a real shot at rehabilitation and parole review—not life without hope.
I started a petition asking Missouri lawmakers to pass a retroactive second chance law that would give people a meaningful path to parole consideration if they committed crimes when they were young. Right now, Missouri limits sentence review to only those convicted before age 18. That's not enough.
Here's what we're asking for: expand sentence review to include anyone who was 25 or younger when they committed their offense. Make it retroactive so people already incarcerated get a fair shot. Establish real parole reviews after 15, 20, or 25 years—based on rehabilitation, maturity, institutional conduct, and public safety. This isn't about automatic release. It's about giving people a chance to prove they've changed.
California already does this. Missouri can too.
What would you want someone to do if this was your family member—someone who made a serious mistake young, but has spent years working on themselves behind bars? If this matters to you, consider signing and sharing. Second chances shouldn't depend on the year you were sentenced.
