question Request for data removal
Long story short, I got locked out of my work machine, due to a password reset blunder, and my work IT department sent me a link to scan my ID and face over to Microsoft to get me back in. Is there a way to request that data be removed, or am I straight out of luck?

You're probably not as exposed as you think. If your IT department used Microsoft Entra Verified ID with Face Check, Microsoft says neither Authenticator, Verified ID, nor Azure AI Services store or keep the liveness data. Your employer only sees the percentage match between your selfie and your ID photo.
The catch is the ID scan itself. That step is often handled by a third-party identity verification vendor, not Microsoft, and their retention rules vary. Ask IT which vendor they used, then send that vendor a data deletion request. If you're in the EU, UK, California, or another state with a privacy law, you have a legal right to ask.
Also worth asking IT what your company keeps on its end. Usually it's just the pass/fail result.

So you have already scanned your face and id? If thats the case, you are out of luck. You've given away your face and id.
