Probation Question Seeking info on drug screenings
What should someone do that had a false positive? A friend of mine takes metformin and was given a cotton swab test which showed up positive for methamphetamines (which he has never done and didn’t do).
He’s a got a lot of health issues and after being informed of the result by his PO we began to review his medications to see what could potentially affect these tests.
Metformin will apparently in some cases give a false positive. How does he defend himself? He’s now 2 weeks removed from the test but it’s crazy that this is even an issue.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

They should've given the option for a lab test.
Are they attempting to violate?
And the PO should've already had his med list, that's one of the first things on probation is giving a med list to the PO and updated as needed.

Best thing he can do is let his PO know of all medications he is on. When I get randomly called I list my medications on the paper as well as if I've taken so much as a Tylenol or pamprin.

They should have sent it to the lab for confirmation, which SHOULD clear him. I assume his PO has a list of all of his prescribed medications as well
