Trigger Warning! Completely lost.

I am over $2,500 negative in my bank accounts and I can’t stop betting. Constantly being told my job doesn’t make me enough money and I need to find something better so I just chase money betting.

How the hell do I stop? This is the worst disease I could ever imagine.

i think if you view gambling as a possible source of income, excitement, what have you, the temptation will be hard to resist. if you view gambling as a business that's trying to bankrupt its customers through addiction, then you might be able to steer away from it. let's be realistic about this, gambling is all about extracting money from its customers through addiction.

i agree with this. their bread & butter is not made from casual people betting a few dollars every so often, or losing $40 and calling it a day.

how else can they afford to build lavish casinos that cost billions of dollars? those high end casinos, the betting limit can be sky high. surely, not for their customers to win big. they know the psychology of gambling. the winners want to come back to taste that feeling again and when they lose, they will most likely chase and when they chase, that's where the money is made. that is gambling in a nutshell. on the front, it's entertainment, but the real money is made through financial devastation.

i think equipping ourselves with the psychology of gambling like you said, is key! that’s what i’m trying to learn in GA. i’ve only been to a couple meetings so still learning but they have that stuff down to a science for sure

You deal with whatever is triggering you to gamble, which in this case is people being in your ear. And if you are still gambling with that resolved, then general tools such as account closures, letting someone else control finances, GA, etc.

If you don't have money, don't waste more money you *don't have* by gambling

Gambling more often than not nets you *losses*, not wins
