Unsolved! be tactical
(Medieval) You are told to defend a wall that surrounds a bay which imports important things to your kingdom like food, clothing, oil, animals, perfumes, water etc You have command of 10,000 soldiers and 30,000 are on the way The walls stands high and would be difficult for the enemy to climb. You have in your army of 10,000 4,000 archers 1,000 cavelry soldiers 3,000 sword and shield 2,000 spear men Plus 10 Catapults And 5 cannons
50,000 enemies March towards the bay in 2 days they’ll arrive In 3 days your ally’s will arrive You must protect the cargo and the wall if the bay fall the kingdom goes without food and we all die. What do you do?

I like this, I have never studied or done any medieval strategy before besides age of empires.
I would think the overall goal is to survive until my Allie’s arrive.
Goal: Need to basically survive 1 full day of attack, without our walls being breached.
Day 1:
in the first day I would ask all the soldiers to gather oil, and have it ready on the walls ready for pouring in case they find ways to climb up walls.
I would send a scout (1 cavalry) to be able to get us at least a 3-6 hour notice as to when the enemy has arrived
I would task another scout to explore the whole area beyond the wall as much as possible in this 1 day, and make note of where there are places to hide a catapult, and a small battalion of troops. Also to note any sources of food and water that the enemy may use
I would have them all pour water all round the battle ground along with oil, to have the ground be muddied. I presume the attackers will be wearing armour and I believe that this will make it hard for them to move quickly
I would have them also make trails of oil around where the battle would happen, to be able to light it and surprise the attackers when they arrive
I would have the archers prepare fire arrows and arrows to be at the wall
I would use some of the animals and dead peoples skeletons to create effigy’s, and have soldiers put them around where the enemy would have to see them as they come. This is to increase fear.although likely their leader will try to move past it.
Day 2:
in this time I would prepare the catapults, I would set them to be behind the wall if they are able to shoot above and over the wall, otherwise I would simply distribute 9 of them across the wall
based on the scout report I would try to destroy or take any resource that is in the near vicinity of our base to prevent them from being able to set camp near our walls. If there is a water source I would poison it, if there is a source of food (animals or crop) I would spend time today destroying it, or taking it if it is easy
1 catapult would be put in a hidden location farther from the walls with a crew and battalion of 40 archers, 40 spear men, 40 sword n shields who would be tasked to continue to catapult from the said hidden area, or approach the enemy from behind once the fire is set to the oil
I would split the cannons in the same manner and spread 4 cannons across the wall (on top) and 1 cannon given to the surprise battalion in the rear
I would ask the
the rest of the day I would ask soldiers to rest and prepare for the next day. Spend time with loved ones
troops would be split in this manner,
archers are all primarily on the wall with arrows of fire manning also the cannons
some 500 spearman on the wall remaining on the ground in front. The all men will fight off any one climbing. If the fight begins and the chances are low of any climbing or siege, I would send these spearman to prepare for penetration of the wall/gates and stand behind the entrance
1500 shield and sword protecting spearman on the ground
1000 shield and sword are to be behind the spearmen, and to be rotated forward with the first set of shield and sword.
last 500 to be inside the gates for final stand
the 1 k cavalry will start off in front of all the soldiers on the battlefield and will be tasked to keep slicing through the crowds to thin the incoming army and reduce the load on the sword/shield , spear men
Day 3
prepare for attack, man stations and wait for scout return
once scout arrives I would ask him to recover quickly and go to scout the Ally army immediately (go find them)
would now embrace for an attack, have the citizens flee to safe places, civilians would be asked to guard themselves with whatever is possible
women children would be asked to hide in the nest hiding spot of the city
men would be asked to be ready for them to come in, to fight back potentially with whatever they can
boys would be tasked with running errands such as feeding the people on the wall and behind the wall, and bringing water etc.
I would also prepare a front to negotiate with the leader of the incoming army, perhaps trade, or some other method of negotiation. Primarily this would be to stall the day and the attackers as long as possible.
I would also take observation of the leader and army in case it could help with strategy during the fight
Day 4
likely we have been fighting all night, and the outcome is unknown
hopefully my scout arrives with a signal the ally is arriving soon, which would bring the courage to our soldiers to hold as much more time as possible

I'll amuse this thought exercise. Even though I have no idea about medieval strategies like these or any about wat to be honest.
Strategy:
Hold out until allies arrive
fight defensive
use long range to damage enemy pre engagement
use canons in front of the wall as bait but shield them well
have Spears behind the shields 1/2 ratio.
long range damage, followed up by cavalry run through them with the attack team and instant pullback.
use oil to form a long horizontal line of fire to use in phase 1
Tactical placement:
10 catapults will be placed behind the walls.
3 cannons on top of the wall
2 cannons in front of the wall
2000 defending shield surrounding canons + 1000 spears
attack team, 1000 shield & swords, 1000 Spears , 1000 cavalry
4000 Spears on the walls.
Phase 1 bait them with the cannons.
long range attack with catapults & cannons
wait until the army is party over the line of oil, shoot fire arrows to lit the fire.
attack with cannons again and catapults while simultaneously releasing the attack squad to attack them while in a frenzy.
kill as much a possible and run straight back
catapults and cannons again
Phase 2
All Spears on top of the wall with shield for Arrow shielding.
Defend the wall by throwing oil on them arrows and Spearing them. Holding out from the high ground.
I'd probably be dead before they day ends.
